Impact Zone Wrestling ventured to a special day at its regular time and place. Kicking off the show was IZW owner Justin Roberts as he hosted an entire evening of contests, giveaways, and, of course, wrestling.
P. G. Productions came out first, and CEO Peter Goodman had a few matters to discuss with Jacob The Riot Herzberg and The Marty. After a brief lecture on fundamentals, he dismissed The Marty to prepare for his match later in the evening, leaving Herzberg ringside for additional study. Goodman was matched against Mike G, who has amassed a stunning string of victories.
Peter Goodman flaunted his knowledge on the basics of wrestling, although Herzberg might have been just as well off jotting down a few points on Mike G's approach to the match given the amount of offense he garnered. Of course, no Goodman wrestling tutorial would be complete without exposing a few loopholes in the rules. Finally Goodman set up for his "coup de disgrace," and Herzberg took a pair of knuckles from his pocket while Goodman distracted the referee. However, Mike G acted fast: hurling his shoe at Herzberg, tricking the rookie into tossing him the knuckles. With the referee distracted by Herzberg on the apron, Mike G clocked Goodman with the knuckles to register a three-count, much to the dismay of Goodman and Herzberg alike.
Next up, the special grudge match between Lehi David Smith and Dread Pirate Bernie was pending a stipulation. LDS offered a Salt Lake City street fight, in which there would be no drinking, no hitting LDS, and no serving beverages for the duration of the contest. Contrariwise, Bernie offered a Caribbean Tiki match, in which all alcohol would be consumed, wenches would sit in the front row, and there would be no rules in the match. The fans voted in favor of the Caribbean Tiki match. During an exchange on the outside, LDS retrieved a steel chair from under the ring, taunting the fans by not using it. When he finally tried, it ricocheted off the top rope and struck him. From there, Bernie pinned LDS with an F-5 onto the chair.
Prior to the break, the IZW Tag Team champions representing The Order of REDRUM defended their titles against Judo Jimmy Daniels & Matthew Kraven and former-champions Bump 'N' Grind. The action was fierce as all six seemed unstoppable at the outset, but eventually, the match accumulated a toll on the competitors (especially after the crowd-thrilling Tower of Doom). In the final stages, the match focused on both sets of challengers as if all four of them had forgotten about the champions resting on the apron. On an Irish whip, Lucha made a blind tag off Kraven. As Morgan put him in a surfboard, Lucha snuck in and, before either team knew what was happening, stole an easy pinfall with her shoulders already on the mat.
After intermission, Tony Trouser returned to The Sets to cash in his spoils for a match with The Marty. Marty started strong, but Trouser kept his patience and capitalized each time Marty left himself open. While Marty dominated the majority of the match, Trouser stayed focused on a win. At one point, the Goodman-endorsed rookie thought he had registered a pinfall with his feet on the ropes (the same trick he used to beat Trouser several weeks prior) but the referee waived it off when he saw the illegal leverage. Confused by the controversy, Marty was susceptible to a surprise Drop Trou on a rebound out of the corner for Trouser to score the pinfall.
As the fans of Impact Zone Wrestling are well aware, both Lawrence Tyler and Lil' Nate have been claiming to be the greatest in IZW history. Both men have plenty of supporting evidence and supporters. The IZW Board of Directors requested a contract signing to propose a Best of Five series to determine the greatest. After signing, Triple XXX took the mic to speak his mind: citing that what makes one man the greatest is being the one who does it first (seemingly, in reference to being the first Triple Crown champion). LT suggested the first match should begin immediately but Nate counter offered with a handshake to start the series off with good sportsmanship. They shook hands clean, but then LT sucker punched the Modern-Day Hippy. If LT believes the greatest is the man that does it first, then it sent a clear message why he would make first contact.
In continuation of the feud between G. Q. Gallo and REDRUM, the two met in a tag match partnered with Jay Garland and Jon Von Cross respectively. Redrum and Von Cross cut the ring off on Garland and worked him over for the bulk of the match. Gallo wanted a piece of the man Hell conceived throughout, but upon getting the tag, he quickly learned to be careful what he wished for. After Redrum laid out Garland with the Deathkick, Gallo got more than he could handle (or the rules permitted). Von Cross trapped Gallo by his legs against the steel post as the man Hell conceived put the boots to him unmercifully. The referee disqualified REDRUM after a five-count, but the verdict kept Gallo from garnering any amount of revenge on Redrum.
In the biggest IZW World championship match of the year, Hawaiian Lion defended against Fearless Jack Bull. Since the championship belt was abandoned by both men at the last show, Justin Roberts announced that the winner would be presented the belt on July 17th. Lion dominated the opening stages of the match, prompting Bull to retreat. However, as he backed away from ringside, he encountered Navajo Warrior and half of the locker room. Bull returned to ring, inviting his friends from the back to teh ring. The other half of the locker room came out, chanting "We Back Jack!"
The match resumed as an impromptu Lumberjack match. Jack Bull dominated with a tremendous amount of offense on the champion, but a double-noggin' knocker dropped both men temporarily. The roster rallied for their respective favorite as a slug-out developed in the center of the ring. Lion came out on top, leading into a back brain kick for a two-count. Bull mounted a sturdy counter attack, hitting his signature DDT but Lion kicked out before the three. In the end, it was Bull's over-confidence that cost him. He attempted to replicate a back brain kick, but Lion ducked and cinched in an Anklelock. As Bull crept within inches of the ropes, Lion centered him in the middle of the ring and dropped him into his Lion Leglock. Bull withstood a few seconds of the torture before tapping out.
While on the surface he successfully defended the IZW World championship, this victory was likely the most satisfying win of Hawaiian Lion's entire career. At the next show, Hawaiian Lion will get what he deserves: an IZW World championship presentation!

'Too sexy for his shirt' - match images below
(images courtesy strickspix)The first official show of the Manning-Kelley Regime of the WCWC ended up with some unbelievable matches!! AWA Superstar Khan Kussian made his debut, and former WCWC Tag Team Champions were humiliated beyond any reasonable point!
The show opened with a 10-count dedicated to the memories of NorthWest Legend Sandy Barr and former AWA and WWE Superstar Sherri Martel. Students of Sandy Barr's including Cedric The Hitman, Dr. Kliever, and Tony Terrific dedicated the show to the memory of Sandy Barr.
**Match 1: The Franchise Playahs def. The Jenkins Cousins
This match was a rematch from last month. G Shock and Dr. Kliever were forced to wrestle in dresses!! The Jenkins really took advantage of their "situation" and the limited mobility of The Playahs. They dominated G Shock and Kliever till the end, but the Playahs stuck to their
cheating ways and ended up getting the win. This evened them up at one win apiece. Another match was signed for next month with the winner getting a shot at the WCWC Tag Team champions in August!"The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck came to the ring to insult the fans and supposedly to talk about himself, but Kris Klash ran to the ring to shut him up! The crowd cheered as Kris threw Ryseck around the ring! Ryseck dove to the outside to end the assault. He then worked with Pat Kelley to arrange an impromptu match pitting Kris Klash and JD Mason against JSIN Sullivan with Christopher Ryseck as the special guest referee!
**Match 2: JSIN Sullivan def JD Mason and Kris Klash (Guest Referee: Christopher Ryseck)
Mason and Klash had no chance at all going into this match with Ryseck choosing to do his nails instead of counting any of their offense or paying attention to JSIN's cheating. Klash covered Sullivan at one point long enough to win the match, but Ryseck was busy admiring himself in his mirror. Sullivan ended up winning after hitting JD Mason with The Incinerator and Ryseck laying down a VERY fast three count.Sullivan and Ryseck continued to attack the defeated Mason and Klash. Sullivan then slipped out of the ring and looked at a fan sitting with her kids. He called for the mic and started harassing the fan. He got in her face and was asking if she was Moose's wife. She eventually said that she was. Sullivan then started telling the crowd that he was sorry he hadn't been around to see their kids lately! This brought Moose out like a house of fire! The fought
around the ring until Moose grabbed the mic and challenged Sullivan to an OREGON DEATH MATCH in July!**Match 3: Bolo def Twist (DQ)
Former AWA Washington Tag Team Champions faced off in a short, violent match. This was more a fight than a wrestling match! Bolo dodged a Twist Kick and that stunned Twist! Bolo then hit him with a clothesline that turned him inside out! Frustrated, Twist kicked Bolo "below the belt." Referee JT Allen warned Twist that that would get him DQ'd if he did it again. Twist laughed in his face and immediately hit Bolo with another low blow. JT Allen
DQ'd Twist and got shoved out of the ring for it! It doesn't look like anything was settled between these two!**Match 4: Cedric The Hitman def Tony Terrific
This was a highly technical match that saw an impressive display of mat wrestling techniques. It didn't take long for the match to pick up, though. Cedric ended up on the outside and the crowd was chanting for Tony to take to the air. Never one to disappoint, Tony climbed to the top turnbuckle and dove onto Cedric! After the match returned to the ring, Cedric hit Tony and grabbed the three count! Tony looked shocked as he returned to the locker room. I wouldn't be surprised to see these two go at it again in the near future!**Match 5: WCWC Tag Team Championship: R2D w/Derek Drexl drew Baeden and
Snyder w/Brian Zane
After Brian Zane left the tutelage of Derek Drexl, a clash was sure to be the result. This was a hotly contested match that saw Drexl and Zane chase each other around the outside of the ring. Both teams were cheating incessantly and growing more and more frustrated with each other. The boiling point between the managers came to a head when Cadillac Callis had Dustin Snyder covered near the ropes. Zane put Snyder's foot on the ropes to break the count, but Drexl was right there to pull it off. This led to a nearly record number of near falls in a short amount of time! The two teams took to the outside to fight, and Brian Zane and Derek Drexl ended up inside the ring. They got into each other's faces, and it finally degenerated into a complete catfight!!!! Rollin' 2 Deep and Baeden and Snyder returned to the ring leading to a 6 man brawl! The referee had no choice other than to declare the match a no-contest.**Match 6: Kid Kool def Khan Kussian
Khan Kussian was making his debut with the WCWC. The crowd knew immediately how to react to this man based solely on the full-size axe he carried to the ring with him! Kid Kool went on the offensive early trying to reduce Khan's mobility. He wasn't successful, though, as Khan took to the air to derail Kool's attempts! They ended up going to the outside when Kool hit Khan with a somersault plancha from the ring apron! They continued back and forth for nearly 10 minutes! Kid Kool was able to ground Khan long enough to get the pinfall victory! Khan wasn't finished, though, and chased Kool back to the locker room!**Match 7: Team Tenacious def Team George (DQ)
"Gentleman" George Michael came out first to introduce his team. As he promised Totally Tenacious Tim last month, he brought out GQ Gallo first. He then introduced his third partner, Jason Styles!!! George then saw that 2 officials had been assigned to the match. He felt that only one was necessary, so he tossed "Smilin'" Dave Jackson out of the ring. Jackson remained outside to help maintain order in this sure to be volatile match.Totally Tenacious Tim came out next to introduce his team. He brought out WCWC Champion and Commissioner Havoc first. He then introduced his third partner, Moose!! The match started off almost immediately as Team Tenacious stormed the ring and attacked Team George. This was a hotly contested match that saw George, Gallo, and Styles cut the ring in half and really punish TTT. Tension built and the fight began to spill to the floor. At one point, a chair made its way into the ring. A frustrated George pasted Havoc with the chair earning a DQ from the referee. Both referees were in the ring trying to restore order as a Pier 6 brawl broke out! "Gentleman" George ripped off Smilin' Dave Jackson's belt to use as a weapon, but this caused Jackson's pants to fall around his ankles. JT Allen went to help him, but Gallo knocked him out with a stiff right hand! George continued to assault Havoc until Tim and Moose came to his aid. This brought out JSIN Sullivan who attacked Moose! It was pure anarchy as all 7 men attacked each other. George eventually grabbed a mic and challenged Havoc to a HANGMAN'S NOOSE MATCH in July for the WCWC Championship. Havoc accepted and Team George finally retreated to the locker room. (images of the match below courtesy strickspix)

IZW RESULTS 6/19/07 BY ED THE K
Payaso Assesino.
Mike G & The Dread Pirate Bernie defeated Lehi David Smith & "Judo" Jimmy Daniels.
Hollywood w/Tommy Drake & Tony Trouser defeated Jacob "The Riot" Herzberg & The Marty.
"XXX" Lawrence Tyler & Peter Goodman defeated Lil' Nate & "Feature Presentation" Jay Garland.
"Fearless" Jack Bull & VonCross defeated IZW World Champion Hawaiian Lion & The Navajo Warrior.
"Mucha Lucha" w/Beaver Las Vagas defeated "Bump & Grind" to become the new IZW Tag Team Champions.
REDRUM defeated GQ Gallo by DQ
The show started with a special announcement that for the entire evening (sans the main event) each match would be a tag team encounter. The first of these matches was a Lucha Libre encounter with El Chucky, Fly Boy, and Caudillo against Rudy Escobedo, Black Angel, and Payaso Assesino. The luchadors' athleticism was balanced by their classic antics. In the end Chucky, Caudillo, and Fly Boy simultaneously pinned Payaso, Rudy Escobedo, and Black Angel, respectively.
The next match saw collisions amongst rivals: Dread Pirate Bernie versus Lehi David Smith and Mike G versus Judo Jimmy Daniels. Of course, Bernie teamed with Mike and LDS teamed with Judo, and before the match began, both partnerships had unique interaction. Judo ate some pages of LDS's Good Book (perhaps thinking "good" referred to its taste) while Mike tried to teach Bernie the simple dance steps of "elbows out, side to side," but Bernie failed to master the subtly and turned it into a jig. But once the bell rang, the tensions between the rivals took center stage. Bernie and LDS fought across the floor, then all the way to the back, and finally straight out the door, leaving Mike G alone with Daniels, enabling him to hit a devastating neckbreaker for the pinfall.
Next, Peter Goodman lectured Jacob The Riot Herzberg and The Marty about the difference between being willing to win a match and being willing to do anything to win a match. That advice carried them into their match against Tony Trouser and Hollywood with his reluctant valet Tommy Drake. In keeping with Goodman's advice, Drake was ready, willing, and able to break the rules for the rookies to win if it could get him out of the dress. It seemed Drake had succeeded when Marty pinned Trouser after belting him with brass knuckles, but Hollywood got the referee to find the illegal object on Marty; thus causing a reverse decision in favor of himself and Trouser. Close but no cigar, for Tommy Drake and the P. G. rookies.
The next match pit Lil' Nate and Jay Garland against "XXX" Lawrence Tyler and Peter Goodman. All four men have a rich history with the other participants, except Nate and LT. In fact, those two kept their distance from the other for the most part, instead trying to top the other in exchanges with their opponent. Eventually, their paths crossed and it quickly turned into a brawl that sent both men up the aisle and to the back. In the end, Goodman picked up the win with his spin kick after withstanding a modified Cloverleaf.
After intermission, IZW World champion "Hawaiian Lion" John Williams teamed with Navajo Warrior to face two men that have badgered him throughout his entire title reign. Although Fearless Jack Bull seemed more willing to brave the ring than in previous months, it was not without his trademark reluctance. Inevitably, though, he and Lion were forced into a showdown.
Suddenly, the whole cat-and-mouse game took a decisive turn. In fact, the long-running spiel was a mere ruse. In reality, Fearless Jack Bull is one of the big dogs. He proved that as he planted Hawaiian Lion with a DDT for the pinfall. Immediately upon his victory, he shed the cowardly facade and dropped the IZW World championship upon the chest of our fallen champion with an official challenge for next Monday, July 2nd. After the match, Lion left the ring, abandoning the championship as well, taking Bull's ruse as a personal affront, and rightly so, as Jack Bull's actions for the past few months have been nothing more than an insult, a statement that he does not think Lion can run with the big dogs. Now, Lion wants nothing more than to prove to Bull, to the fans, and to himself that Jack Bull is wrong! The championship is secondary now, this has gotten very personal.
IZW Tag Team champions Bump 'N' Grind defended the titles against Lucha and Mucha of The Order of REDRUM. Preparing to enter the fourth month of their reign, Morgan and Erica D'Erico seemed unbeatable; although they have never faced a team with a manager as cagey as Beaver Las Vagas. Both teams utilized countless double-team maneuvers to their benefit, but in the end, it was a time-tested switcheroo that made the difference. Bump 'N' Grind grounded Mucha Reigns with a Sidewinder, but Beaver distracted the referee to prevent a count. As Morgan and Erica disputed with the referee, Lucha Reigns took his brother's place, so as Erica attempted to finish him off, he counteracted with an easy Hasta La Vista for the pinfall.
The main event was one of the most hard-hitting encounters in recent memory. In fact, G. Q. Gallo did not even wait for the introductions to begin as he tore into his opponent. The men fought outside the ring with the same ferocity as they fought inside the ring. Both men seemed to be making equal progress towards victory, but after Gallo hit a Fallaway Slam into Samoan Drop, he prepped REDRUM for his football punt. Beaver Las Vagas tried to interfere, but Gallo pulled him into the ring. As the referee tried to separate them, Redrum struck the referee from behind to eliminate him from the equation, at least temporarily.
REDRUM instructed Beaver Las Vagas to hold G. Q. Gallo in position for his Deathkick, but Gallo moved at the last moment, letting Beaver take the brunt. Redrum tried a clothesline, but Gallo rolled out of the way and grabbed Beaver's cane. Gallo struck Redrum with the cane, right after the referee regained consciousness. The referee called for the bell. Oblivious to the fact that Redrum blatantly knocked him down from behind, the referee disqualified G. Q. Gallo to award the match to the man Hell conceived.
IZW 6/5/07
IZW at The Sets in Tempe, AZ 6/5/07
Lehi David Smith w/Sister Destiny pinned The Dread Pirate Bernie.
Mike G pinned "Eclipse" Matthew Kraven.
Lil' Nate pinned Mucha Reigns.
Tony Trouser pinned Jacob "The Riot" Herzberg.
Hollywood w/ his valet Tommy Drake pinned "Judo" Jimmy Daniels.
IZW World Champion "Hawaiian Lion" John Williams, The Navajo Warrior, GQ Gallo & "Feature Presentation" Jay Garland Vs "Fearless" Jack Bull, REDRUM, VonCross & Lucha Reigns was ruled a "No Contest".
Detailed report by Ed The K
IZW Tag Team champions Morgan and Erica D'Erico served as guest ring announcers for the evening, but as they announced the main event as a Survivor Series match-up, Fearless Jack Bull boldly came into The Sets in a wheelchair. He announced that he was unable to compete, in accordance to Dr. Zhivago's wishes, but he said that the IZW Board of Directors said, "we kinda don't believe that your kidneys are bruised in 73 places." Therefore, they requested a urine test. Unfortunately, the sample wound up in the hands of IZW World champion "Hawaiian Lion" John Williams. Immediately, the situation told Jack Bull, "Urine trouble!" As one thing led to another, Lion tossed the sample into the face of the man who will not return his championship belt.
The action began with Lehi David Smith and Sister Destiny marching into battle against Dread Pirate Bernie. Two weeks ago, LDS cost Bernie a match against Peter Goodman, and this match was a rematch from the 5/8 show. In the end, Lehi David Smith came out on top after an assist from Destiny saved him from certain defeat. Although to her credit, Destiny refrained from outside interference for the better portion of the match, saving herself for when it mattered the most.
Moving into the next match, Morgan had the chore of introducing "The Eclipse" Matthew Kraven, and she handled the task like a professional. In fact, there was no incident between Kraven and the tag champions as Mike G was introduced. While Jack Bull might have made short work of Mike G at the last show, Matthew Kraven found out why Mike is such a dangerous competitor. Kraven dominated much of the match, but he had trouble keeping Mike G down for the three, and before long, he found himself on the receiving end of a pinfall. After the match, Judo Jimmy Daniels attacked Mike G from behind. Mike G scared him off by throwing his shoes at Judo, and as he and Eclipse retreated to the back, Matthew Kraven told Mike G that he would see them again in the ring.
In his first IZW match since January 2007, Lil' Nate faced Mucha Reigns with Beaver Las Vagas ringside. While he was gone, Lil' Nate has not lost a single step, which proved to be a necessity in picking up a win over the Order of REDRUM. Mucha came very close to defeating Nate on more than one occasion, but in the end, Nate sidestepped Mucha and then planted him with a Size 11 Waffle to pick up the win. Unfortunately, his victory celebration was short changed when "Triple XXX" Lawrence Tyler blasted him with a monstrous clothesline and laid him out. Guys from the locker room helped Nate to the back as intermission began.
After the break, Tony Trouser prepared to face Jacob The Riot Hertzberg. Before the bell, Trouser took the mic to let Jacob know how much respect he had for him from their Impact Zone Idol match-up on 3/27. Hertzberg, however, did not reciprocate the feelings. He voiced his disgust with Trouser's wrestling and the crowd's voting, starting the match with a slap across the face. From there, the match took a different course than the two saw 6 weeks ago, but the end result remained the same as Tony Trouser pinned Jacob after an amazing Drop Trou off the top rope. In accordance with Peter Goodman's challenge, his win places Trouser in line for a rematch with The Marty.
The next match featured the debut of Tommy Drake as Hollywood's dress-wearing valet. Per the stipulation of their prior encounter, Drake was forced to serve as Hollywood's valet for as long as Hollywood wins. Therefore, Drake had a personal interest in a victory for Judo Jimmy Daniels. But as Drake attempted to assist Judo, Hollywood wised up to the situation and he was able to persevere by avoiding his vindictive valet and by pinning Jimmy Daniels after a Dominator.
The main event saw Fearless Jack Bull and Jon VonCross team with the Order of REDRUM to face IZW World champion Hawaiian Lion, Navajo Warrior, G. Q. Gallo, and Jay Garland in a Survivor Series elimination match. With the amount of mass and personal issues amongst the eight men, the match was a brawl waiting to happen. At first, it appeared that Lion and his teammates could get a clean sweep as he forced Lucha Reigns to tap out and then Navajo Warrior pinned VonCross with a Monument Valley Driver.
Immediately after the second elimination, Fearless Jack Bull cradled Navajo Warrior to lower the deficit to three-on-two. He and REDRUM evened the odds after Jay Garland was pinned by a Deathkick. Then G. Q. Gallo stepped into the ring with REDRUM, but the two wound up fighting halfway to the back where they were counted out. Their elimination left Hawaiian Lion and Jack Bull for each of their respective teams, but VonCross quickly interfered. Then, Navajo Warrior returned to keep things even, leaving the referee with no alternative but to throw out the entire match, but when the Order of REDRUM returned in mass, all Hell broke loose. The entire locker room flooded the ring to pull the parties apart so eventually, the ring was cleared of everyone except Lawrence Tyler.
Hoping to bask in the glory, LT was in for a reality check when he turned around to face Lil' Nate. Nate quickly ejected LT from the ring., permitting himself to end the night alone in the ring and to get the last laugh at Tyler's expense

"Fearless" Jack Bull pinned Mike G.
Lehi David Smith pinned "Feature Presentation" Jay Garland.
GQ Gallo Vs Lucha Reigns was ruled a "no contest".

IZW Tag Team Champions "Bump-n-Grind" Erica D'Erico & Morgan defeated "Judo" Jimmy Daniels & "The Eclipse" Matthew Kraven.
Detailed Report by K
Impact Zone Wrestling started celebrations for its three-year anniversary at The Sets with a few special announcements, including that IZW World champion "Hawaiian Lion" John Williams was overseas for an Oriental tour, featuring the top talent in Japan, such as The Great Muta. However, pseudo-champion "The Fearless One" Jack Bull interrupted once again. He and Jon Von Cross came to the ring. With the assurance that Lion was on the other side of the world, Bull showed the bravado his moniker implied.
Fearless Jack Bull invited Mike G to the ring for an overdue "wrestling clinic." Mike G has been the uncrowned King of Upsets in the past several months, pinning a host of tough opponents including Cowboy Jack Durango in his first match after losing the IZW championship. However, Mike suffered one big boot to the face and never recovered. Bull unceremoniously dethroned the King of Upsets after a DDT or two. Although he may come off as a delusional bum, Bull is the biggest threat to Hawaiian Lion's reign because he is a perennial top contender. If Lion forgets that fact, then we will crown a new champion instantly.
The next contest saw "Feature Presentation" Jay Garland face Lehi David Smith. After sustaining an opening onslaught of pin attempts, including a sleek victory roll, LDS bailed outside. LDS tried to control the match by changing speeds, but Garland is versatile enough that he can switch gears on a whim. Lehi focused on Garland's arm, but Garland kept frustrating him with unexpected offense. In the end, Garland tried for an avalanche in the corner, but Lehi evaded him and pinned him with a double-leg trip takedown (and his feet on the ropes).
A few months ago, "The Institution" G. Q. Gallo was scouting opponents for the next name on his Questlist, which was the night REDRUM blinded him with the mysterious red mist. As a result of that sneak attack, Gallo was sidelined but now that he is back to wrestle, he was ready to Redrum as the next name on his Questlist. However, Beaver Las Vagas had other ideas. Speaking on behalf of The Order, Beaver said Redrum was not in the building but instead offered Lucha Reigns as a substitute.
Years ago, G. Q. Gallo and Lucha Reigns teamed regularly, but nowadays, they are virtual strangers. As such, Gallo was not prepared for the cunning tactics that Lucha has adopted since joining The Order of REDRUM. Lucha went for his Hasta La Vista, but Gallo countered it for the Swinger, but Lucha countered with a knee strike to regain momentum. Beaver Las Vagas interfered as necessary to keep that momentum, yet Gallo rallied against the odds, but as he positioned Lucha for his trademark punt, Beaver yanked Lucha from the ring. Then, REDRUM appeared seemingly out of nowhere to attack Gallo from behind, causing the match to be thrown out. Jay Garland tried save Gallo to return the favor from the last show, but The Order cut him off before he could assist, laying both of them to waste in the middle of the ring.
Tony Trouser came to the ring ready for his rematch, knowing The Marty had been added to the roster. However, when he called out his opponent, Peter Goodman answered the call. Goodman (with Marty and Jacob The Riot Hertzberg in tow) explained to the rookie that he cannot make demands from the Board; however, with P. G. Productions as the primary sponsor, Goodman could. As such, he was the reason Marty and Jacob have been added to the roster. Goodman explained that Trouser was at the bottom of the roster, so he had to answer to people higher up, and as his senior, he said Trouser would face Hertzberg (not Marty) in two weeks. Thus, Trouser did not have the night he expected to have, but he sure had the night that Peter Goodman expected him to have!
The next match saw the same Peter Goodman wrestle his first IZW match since March 27th. His opponent was the highly capable Dread Pirate Bernie. Although Bernie manhandled Goodman in the beginning stages of the match, there is no substitute for experience, and Goodman took advantage of a rookie mistake to seize control. However, Bernie weathered all Goodman could deliver and he floored Goodman with a Reverse Legsweep. Unfortunately, the referee was predisposed with Lehi David Smith. As Bernie realized the official was unable to count, he went after LDS but LDS his him with a hot shot off the ropes, enabling Goodman to land his spin kick for the pinfall.
Tommy Drake and Hollywood have had a long feud brewing, and Tommy Drake saw fit to settle their differences in a Loser Wears a Dress match, where the loser would also have to serve as the winner's valet. Hollywood obliged, and the match was a seesaw match that saw both men maintain considerable lengths of control. In the end, Hollywood attempted a huge superkick, but Drake ducked and the referee took the brunt. Therefore, both men were permitted to do anything they wanted to do, except get a three count. Drake dropped Hollywood with plastic knuckles, no count, and a flying elbow, no count. Then, Hollywood hit his Dominator, no count, and another before the referee regained his senses enough to count a pinfall. After the match, Hollywood gave Drake a quick fitting in the dress before Drake awoke to a whole new low for his career.
Before the main event, "Triple XXX" Lawrence Tyler took the mic and apprehended the entire show as he explained to everyone why he was Arizona's greatest living wrestler. He has won the IZW World championship three times, the IZW Tag Team championship twice, and the Western States championship. Even beyond championships, LT said that he has beaten everybody who was anybody in the Arizona wrestling scene: Mike Knox, Navajo Warrior, Derick Neikirk, Hawaiian Lion, Jack Bull, etc. However, there was one name he forgot, and that man was quick to remind him. Lil' Nate came out to a rousing ovation in his first IZW appearance since January. LT asked Nate what he was out there to do, and Nate offered a handshake to give peace a chance. LT gripped his hand and threatened Nate's livelihood, to which Nate responded with an attempted Size 11 Waffle, but LT bailed out of the ring, proclaiming himself greatest wrestler in Impact Zone Wrestling history. There is only one place we are going to find out who the greatest wrestler in IZW is, and that is inside the ring.
The main event saw IZW Tag Team champions Bump 'N' Grind face "The Eclipse" Matthew Kraven and his chosen partner Judo Jimmy Daniels. In the past couple shows, Kraven has pinned both champions, but Bump 'N' Grind is worth more than the sum of its parts. The match started as a bedlam, but the champions came out with the edge. The challengers turned the match around, trapping Erica D'Erico and cutting the ring off for the majority of the match. After several minutes of taunting Bump 'N' Grind for not being able to make a tag, Judo and Eclipse saw their advantage fall apart in a split-second when Erica countered a superplex with a modified Sunset Bomb.
The champions made a long-awaited tag, and Morgan rolled through both challengers. She hit Matthew Kraven with a butterfly suplex, but Judo made the save. Erica came back in to take Judo out of the ring, which enabled Morgan to hit a Samoan Drop, but Kraven kicked out. Bump 'N' Grind tagged out for the Sidewinder, but Judo tripped Erica up on the top rope, then the challengers hit Morgan with a sidewalk DDT double-team. However, Morgan was no longer the legal member; instead Erica D'Erico caught both men with a flying cross body block off the top rope for a pinfall.
After the match, Matthew Kraven and Judo Jimmy Daniels bickered with the referee, having not seen the final tag between the champions, as well as with each other, but Erica D'Erico and Morgan retained the IZW Tag Team championships fair and square as Impact Zone Wrestling began its fourth year at The Sets!

IZW 5/8/07by Ed The K Motley
The show started with a newly bald Johnny Roxx getting interrupted by the theme music from Superman, a fitting harbinger that the fans of Impact Zone Wrestling were in for a unique evening. Fearless Jack Bull came out with the IZW World championship in tow and reiterated his stipulations from the last event were that Lion had to win by pinfall or submission. Of course, the match ended prematurely when Bull forced a DQ, so Lion would not receive a title match. As such, Bull announced that he would not participate in the evening's card.As the crowd got restless, Jack Bull challenged anyone into the ring to silence him, an invitation accepted by "Hawaiian Lion" John Williams. Caught by surprised, Bull fled from the ring -- leaving the IZW World championship in the ring, which Lion reclaimed and offered a title opportunity to Bull.
The first contest of the evening featured the returning Lehi David Smith against the man now known as Dread Pirate Bernie. LDS started the match with a prayer, asking God to return his full vision. As such, Bernie immediately saw an opportunity and he seized a fast start. The veteran LDS assumed control, working over the head and neck of the Dread Pirate. Eventually, Bernie caught LDS with a DDT and began to turn the match around. In the end, Bernie pinned LDS with a reverse legsweep.
Afterwards, Tommy Drake came to the ring to deliver the following challenge: "Hollywood, I will wrestle you one more time, and when I beat you and it's all done, you will accompany me to the ring every match I wrestler afterwards until I lose as my valet ... But in valet style, you will wear this: (pulls out dress from the Bertha Faye collection). Because I guarantee that will go with your hair, that will go with the way you wrestle, and that will go with you for a long, long time."
Back with the action, the IZW Tag Team champions Bump 'N' Grind came to the ring as Morgan prepared to take on a returning Sister Destiny. Morgan outwrestled Destiny in the early stages, but Destiny took control with an aggressive onslaught. But Morgan turned up her own aggression. Destiny had one last ditch effort to finish off Morgan with the Final Destination, but Morgan scooped her up in a Samoan Drop for the pinfall.
Next up, REDRUM came to the ring awaiting the challenge of Mucha Reigns. At the prior show, Mucha reclaimed his brother Lucha Reigns, so Redrum was looking for revenge. Immediately from the outset, the man Hell conceived established his dominance, but Mucha leveraged his speed and agility to his advantage, employing a hit-and-run technique. His strategy was met with a large degree of success, but Redrum used his own advantages in the match-up to pulverize Mucha. Lucha Reigns started chants for his brother, providing an opening for which Mucha flustered Redrum with a variety of near-falls. But it was as Mucha climbed to the ropes that Lucha committed his true act of treason, shoving his brother off the top rope in an awaiting Deathkick by Redrum. After the match, the Hell Beast and Lucha Reigns abducted Mucha's soul.
Before intermission, guest sound tech Tony Trouser took the mic from Johnny Roxx and spoke about his loss to The Marty. Trouser asked the IZW Board of Directors to put Marty on roster officially, so he could get his rematch. In fact, he said the fans could call him Mr. Rematch. He also warned the Board to add Marty immediately because he does not wait for guys to be put on the roster. All in all, Trouser proved he was a man of few words. Or at least, he should be.
After the break, the newly zombified Mucha Reigns accompanied Lucha for his match against a returning Jay Garland. While Garland basked in the fans' adulation, Lucha attack him from behind to get the match started quickly. Early on, it became apparent that they were sent by REDRUM to entrance Garland in the Order. Lucha attempted to wear down Garland, keeping his usual tactics to a minimum, but Garland scored a few hard hitting moves from a rolling Northing Lights into a neck breaker to a spine buster, but as Garland attempted a cover, Mucha distracted the referee. Lucha recovered and immediately finished him off with an Hasta La Vista.
After the match, REDRUM entered the ring and removed his mask to suck the soul out of the "Feature Presentation." However, at the last moment, G. Q. Gallo entered the ring and disrupted the Order, immediately ejecting Mucha and Lucha from the ring, and then sending Redrum over the top rope with a huge clothesline. As of Friday, the IZW Board of Directors received his medical clearance, so Gallo is once again an active member of the IZW roster. Obviously, Gallo is hot on the trail of the man responsible for shelving him for the past three months.
"The Eclipse" Matthew Kraven faced IZW Tag Team champion Erica D'Erico. Unlike his last encounter with Bump 'N' Grind, Kraven was without a cornerman while Erica had Morgan ringside. The resourceful Matthew Kraven kept control in the beginning using tactics within the rules and some outside the rules, but Morgan served as an equalizer having encountered those tactics first hand already. D'Erico weathered the storm and mounted an advantage. After a series of near-falls, Kraven fled outside and grabbed a replacement turnbuckle. The referee immediately apprehended the metal object, but as he returned it to the sound booth, Eclipse took a small chain from his tights and, wrapping it around his fist, kayoed Erica for a three count leaving both the referee and Morgan none-the-wiser.
Finally, it was time for the main event scheduled for the IZW World championship between Hawaiian Lion and Fearless Jack Bull. However, Bull came out with his head wrapped in toilet paper. Bull took the mic to explain his situation, having slipped on a urinal cake in the restroom, so he was unable to compete until he received medical clearance from his personal doctor, Dr. Zhivago. But he offered Von Cross as a surrogate challenger. Since Von Cross is not a member of the IZW roster, he is ineligible for a championship match, so Von Cross was more than willing to stand-in. Being a fighting champion, Lion was prepared. He accepted the substitute, but before the match started, he invited Navajo Warrior to the ring to watch his back.
The main event began with the IZW World championship on the line. Despite not getting Fearless Jack Bull in the ring as expected, Lion was undeterred from giving the match 100%. Bull provided numerous distractions throughout the match, but those distractions lured Von Cross into false sense of security. When the champion pounced, he knocked out Von Cross with an enziguiri. Jack Bull pulled the referee from the ring before he could register a three-count, but Bull only delayed the inevitable. Navajo Warrior chased Bull away and Lion pinned Von Cross shortly thereafter. After the match, Bull reclaimed possession of the IZW World championship belt itself, but the true World champion in Impact Zone Wrestling remains the Hawaiian Lion.

Ted DiBiase appears on the 1/30 show signing his book and doing autographs, and has a seminar on 2/3.Psycho Andy's notes for the first show of '07:
The show certainly started off quiet (which will always makes a match seem duller than it really is), but later in the night, G.Q. Gallo made sure to get the fans worked up into a frenzy during his match, with his new Captain Morgan mustache. I suspect that starting the night off with Payed Daily may have something to do with this. Two shows in a row, Payed has had guests who are better on the stick than he is (Garland last time, and Peter Goodman this week). In time, the "Daily Show" could become an interesting segment, but I feel that Payed needs to spend less time coming up with insults for the fans that include the word "bitch." We get it, Payed - You can swear. Now how about saying something interesting? Mike James is too distracted by free alcohol and pretty girls. The man needs to concentrate more on going into the ring and getting the "W," even if it means being less interactive with the fans for a while. On the other side of the opening bout, how awesome was it that Ryan Lynch put his nickname on the line? I think the last time I saw this done was when Chuck Palumbo beat Lex Luger for the name "The Total Package," back in the old WCW days. Tommy Drake continued to be bland as all get-out. I've never found this guy interesting, which is why I often yell mean things at him. His presence just makes me feel like I'm wasting my seven bucks. AJ Summers, on the other hand, has managed to make his vertically-challenged-ness work for him, and put on a very entertaining match with an opponent who couldn't carry a blow-up doll to an exciting pairing. While I still fail to understand the fans' love of G.Q. Gallo, nobody can deny that he is way over, likely because he knows how to work a crowd and make them feel like a part of the show. Plus, his promise to start at the bottom and work his way up is intriguing. Let's see how far he goes with that. The Izzys were mostly what I expected. It's a shame that there's so many hornballs in the audience, because, in my opinion, everybody on the ballot EXCEPT Erica D'Erico deserved to win newcomer of the year. And why WASN'T that guy on Garland's trophy black? Also, it was great to see Beaver looking for Alamak. I'm glad they're following up with that story, rather than just letting it die off. Morgan vs. Destiny was a travesty. Destiny was trying to make sure LDS made it to the back, safely, and Morgan sneak-attacked her with that powerbomb. I refuse to accept this. Morgan is a dirty cheater, and her promiscuity will not be tolerated. It's always a treat to see ¡Mucha Lucha! teaming up, and this week was no exception. Plus, Lawrence Tyler and Jay Garland are getting some serious mileage out of their feuding partnership. I wonder how long this can last? Plus, y'know, the Million Dollar Dream. Awesome. Nate's Afro-disiac (flipping powerbomb) finisher is one of the fanciest moves in Pro Wrestling, but last night's finish against Peter Goodman was smooth and vicious-looking. I honestly thought Goodman may have broken his neck, until he stood up. And, uh, didn't I suggest a title vs. title match in my "Booker for a day" post, last show? Hmm... I thought the show was pretty good. Not as good as the last one, but better than it had been through most of the end of 2006.Distractions
As I've been saying for the last couple weeks, I think the biggest problem with some of the wrestlers in IZW is DISTRACTIONS: Mike James is too distracted with his raver look, alcohol, and having pretty girls undress him. He really needs to use 2007 to buckle down and pay attention to what goes on in the ring. He also needs to stop doing the Thriller dance while tumbling over his opponents. It's a stupid move, and it doesn't even look like it would hurt. Payed Daily needs to let go of the fact that his tag team partners (Team POS and Sheik Sammir Hussein) are gone, and stop being angry at the fans about it. He needs to get back to putting on some tights and winning matches, not wearing custom-made jeans and fancy belt buckles. Also, take that lip ring out when it's time to get in the ring - It's done nothing but cause bleeding, which will seriously mix up your in-ring work. Tommy Drake is too distracted by his self-infatuation. Just because something is called "Limited Edition" doesn't mean that everybody wants it. He needs to let go of his feud with the ******* SOUND TECHNICIAN of all people, and concentrate on bettering his status in the company. "Triple X" Lawrence Tyler is far too distracted with stealing the glory, by executing whatever wrestling maneuver the fans chant (Admittedly, I'm guilty of chanting the names of many of those moves, but, y'know). He needs to get over the fact that Jay Garland is his partner, and start focusing on getting his world title back. Jay Garland is too distracted with his new name and the success teaming with Triple X is bringing him. If not for XXX, I'm hard-pressed to admit that Garland would be winning his matches. Garland hasn't shown me anything that makes me believe he can be successful on his own. Mucha and Lucha Reigns seem to be too distracted with doing fancy high-flying maneuvers. Doing cool moves is fine, as long as they're ending in the 1-2-3. Now, you may be asking yourself, "Andy who ISN'T distracted?" Lil Nate, all year long, has gone out there and gotten the job done. He may dance silly, he may be a bit of a jokester, but he almost always gets the win. A true champion. Peter Goodman is probably the biggest trash-talker in IZW, but the man has held the Western States championship for months, always managing to come out on top (even if it isn't always in the most respectable of ways). GQ Gallo may be his own biggest fan, but nobody can deny how dominating this man can be. One of the biggest wrestlers on the IZW roster, Gallo has every right to be proud of himself as he crushes his competition. Mike G comes to the ring, and tries his best. Really, that's all you can ask of a wrestler - Now if he'd only develop a personalityy..... Ryan Lynch has defeated five superstars in two shows. Clearly, the new tights have helped this man see the light, and he's focused himself on doing whatever it takes to get that "W" next to his name, every night. Team LDS may be working in the name of the Good Lord, but their mission is clear: To wipe IZW clean of its sinners, starting with the trampy duo of Bump & Grind. Bump & Grind, meanwhile, are sassy, sexy sweethearts who know the difference between showing off for the crowd and showing off for yourself. They're all fun and games 'til that bell rings, and then these two ladies are all business. Finally, Jack Durango has been one of the most determined men I've ever seen in wrestling. If ol' Brokeback Jack could focus on improving his in-ring abilities and add a couple new moves to his repetoire, his game could really be picked up in 2007 - Possibly regaining the World title, and dominating the entire promotionTommigucci
This show wasn't great, to be honest. After the previous show, this just did not seem like a good show to use to start 2007 off with a bang. Do not get me wrong, there were 3 good matches on the show, plus great storyline advancement. Not to mention 2 returns. But after the opening match, the show just kind of seemed dead until the second half. So, we shall begin. Highs: Ryan Lynch "King of the Fatal Fourway" Fatal Fourway opening match Daly Show with Payed Daly once again a good segment Jay Garland/XXX continue to advance a storyline that works **** well for the 2. Both men are doing a fine job of the whole "I hate you but you're my forced partner" angle. Tag Teag Title match well done & good sign of continuity with Mucha Lucha Tag Team main event well done on all 4 men. Million Dollar Dream Long live the King! Team LDS is still doing a **** good job with their angle. I said last time & I will continue to say it...when LDS & Destiny are out there, they do not push the whole religion thing down our throats. And that's exactly what it takes to make the gimmic work. Good job to the 2 plus Father Punishment. Return of GQ Gallo & his new look Return of Outcast David Taylor Lows: Where's Alamak been? Beaver's injuries Mike James seems out of it as of late. He's not the same Mike James. XXX is still trying to be a glory hog & refused to tag Jay during the match LDS gets kicked out of ringside because Morgan was clumsy & tripped over her own shoes Lil' Nate getting a hairball & Durango trying to help him, only to be reprimanded by the referee Lionheart should have won Wrestler of the Year...I voted for him. Lil' Nate needs a weapon...what kind of champion is that? Lil' Nate yells at me & Borracho to get a girlfriend. Um, why should I? I'M MARRIED!!! Did he not see my wife next to me?

G. Q. Gallo, and Paid Daily
def.
Navajo Warrior and Hawaiian Lion John Williams
There was no pleasant welcome for G.Q. Gallo's return and Paid Daily's debut to the ICW ring as the two Native Warriors power- housed the team of Daily and Gallo. Gallo was man-handled by Navajo Warrior and then both Navajo and Hawaiin Lion. His partner Paid Daily saved Gallo from his beating as they both double- teamed Navajo throughout the match. Navajo's superior in- ring experience was showed as he out-smarted the two when dodged a missile dropkick meant for him.
![]()
The change in the pace brought a familiar face of Disco Inferno from the locker- room to the ring. Navajo made the tag to John Williams. Unfortunently it was futile as Disco hooked the leg of Williams as he shot off the ropes, distracting him long enough for Daily and Gallo to make the pin.
Konnan, Navajo Warrior and Hawaiian Lion John Williams
def.
Disco Inferno, G. Q. Gallo, and Paid Daily
What was to be a one on one by Disco and Konnan became a six man tag. After months of complaining to ICW offiice for new competition, Disco Inferno's request was answered; with the return of TNA LAX member and WCW/ AAA legend Konnan to ICW. Disco did'nt seem very pleased with the offices answer to his open challenge. Earlier in the night, Disco made a deal with the young tag team of G.Q. Gallo and Paid Daily. During their tag match against Navajo Warrior and Hawaiin Lion, Disco interfered causing the Native Warriors to lose the match. With Disco thinking he out-smarted everyone, the main event was changed to a six man tag. Disco and his team took the match light- hearted as they taunted their opponents and even posed for the camera. Their attitude changed quickly when the very serious Konnan came to the ring with Navajo Warrior and Hawaiian Lion. Konnan made quick work of Disco tossing him around the ring like a rag doll. The big man Navajo Warrior took over pounding on the former WCW Television Champion untill everyone was involved. The Native Warriors and Konnan cleared the ring of the irritable team. The faces controlled their opponents untill Paid Daily and G.Q. Gallo saved Disco by triple teaming Hawaiin Lion. Konnan evened the odds a steel chair equalizer. Lion was still cut off from his corner desperatly searching for a tag. Disco attempted a Stunner but Lion blocked it turning the match around and getting the tag to Navajo. The Monument Valley native destroyed Daily and Gallo as Konnan stopped Disco's interference for the final time with a chair shoot to the head. Navajo got the pinfall.

Virgil def. Doink
The former bodyguard to legend Million Dollar Man and original member to the nWo Virgil owned the fans from the start. Despite him hamming it up for the fans Virgil was able to be all business in the ring. This match was no day at the circus for Doink. Virgil man- handled the clown taking it out into the crowd. The Clown turned it around with Virgils face meeting the corner post and literally falling into his fans. Virgil made his comeback when Doink missed a senton from the top rope. Virgil caught Doink with a Fujiwara arm bar for the submission.Mike James def. Lil Nate
The ICW depute of these two was a perfect example of the abilities of cruiserweights. No words can put together the action of this match. The two high- paced high- flyers went back and forth with counters and near- misses. Lil Nate tried getting back into the ring but was drop kicked off the apron. Mike James attempted a slingshot cross- body but was dodged by Lil Nate. Hurt on the floor, Mike James was then dominated by Nate. James made his comeback with a counter into a bulldog followed by a Lionsault. Lil Nate proved he is a force to be reckoned with as the crowd groaned with approval to his insigury kick to the back James' head. Mike James was able to pull it together enough for a frog splash for the win.Michelle Morgan def. Erica D'Erico
A classic womans wrestling bout between these two lovely ladies. In her ICW depute Erica D' Erico proved blondes have more fun as she teared at Michelle Morgan with hair- pulling and choking on the ropes. After a double- down from a double clothesline Michelle was able to clear her head and show everyone way she is a world traveled competitor. Michelle got her retribution and the win.XXX Lawrence Tyler def. The Black Dragon
This match saw ICWs Black Dragon depute on U.S soil and XXX Lawrence Tylers new look. LT looks like he must have put on at least 20lbs of muscle and has gone blonde. This was a quick paced match with each combatant one uping each other. LT not only showed his power moves but also his agility with a slingshot santon. The Pacific Orient native hung LT in a Tree of Woe type manuver and punished him with boots to the face. XXX Lawrence Tyler showcased his skills with a Blockbuster neckbreaker for the finish.-The Live X

Payed Daily pinned Lucha Reigns.
Lehi David Smith w/Sister Destiny & Father Punishment pinned "Miracle" Mike James.
"Hawaiian Lion" John Williams defeated Ryan Lynch.
"XXX" Lawrence Tyler defeated Jay Garland by submission.
Jay Garland won the 20 person Halloween Battle Royal.Alamak w/Beaver Las Vegas pinned Lil' Nate. The Halloween edition of Impact Zone Wrestling at The Sets began with an announcement from new tag champions, Mucha + Lucha Reigns, better known as Mucha Lucha. Though some of their statement may have been lost in translation, it appears they are vacating the tag belts, likely in a reaction to the questionable way they won them, beating only Payed Daily. Payed certainly seemed to see things that way, as he came out and challenged Lucha to go one-on-one. Lucha accepted, but was soon wishing he hadn't, as he found taking on Daily an entirely different matter, when his partner couldn't help. Daily made full use of his strength advantage, hurling Reigns bodily around the ring, and though his opponent tried to keep his distance, Payed was not to be denied and unlike the previous show, came out on top this time.
Lehi David Smith took on 'Miracle' Mike James in the next bout. James was not only giving away a significant size advantage, he was also badly out-numbered, since Smith had both Sister Destiny and Father Punishment in his corner, and they were not merely observers. Inside the ring, James held his own, showing why he was in the top five of the official IZW rankings. But when the referee's back was turned - and Smith made sure that happened often - 3-on-1 proved too much even for James. A thunderous choke-slam from Father Punishment knocked the wind from him, and Smith took full advantage for the pin, though there was little holy or divine about this victory.
The third contest looked similarly one-sided, with Ryan Lynch taking on the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams. Though Lynch used the element of surprise, attacking his opponent before the bell, it soon seemed like the Lion was toying with his prey, even giving Lynch a wedgie, but Williams soon learned it would take much more than that to stop Lynch, a veteran of many memorable bouts against bigger men. When he fell victim to a suplex with a 30-second hang time, it brought back memories of Lynch's encounter with Mike Knox, and it took a relentless series of further suplexes before Williams could come out on top. Lynch was left badly battered, as was apparent from the huge amount of support tape he wore later on, when taking part in the Battle Royal.
After the interval, Jay Garland came to the ring, intent on proving that his victory at the previous show over Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler was no fluke. Tyler, meanwhile, was equally keen to show the result was exactly that. Both men thus had a lot at stake, and the contest which followed had the audience captivated, with support strong for both men. Garland more than once came within an fraction of a second of repeating the win, but Tyler wouldn't lie down, and kept battling back. Finally, it was XXX who was able to make Garland tap, perhaps proving that lighting cannot indeed strike twice.
The next event was the traditional Halloween Battle Royal, with a host of characters coming to the ring, including Supergirl, Borat and former IZW favorite, Ghostwalker. Twenty wrestlers took part in all, and the action was fast and furious as you'd expect, with bodies flying over the top rope to elimination at a rapid pace. The final few men in the ring included Jay Garland, GQ Gallo, Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler and Tommy Drake, but in a reversal of the previous result, Garland, dressed as Apollo Creed, managed to outlast all the other contestants, staying inside the ring to claim victory.
Though the main event was scheduled to be Lil' Nate vs. Cowboy Jack Durango, for the IZW Heavyweight Championship, Durango called off, claiming sickness caused by a batch of bad tacos. Instead, Nate found himself facing the monstrous Alamak, with Beaver Las Vagas lurking at ringside. All Nate's preparations were thrown to the winds, and his game plan required rapid revision to cope with the new opponent. The "stick and move" tactic worked initially, but Alamak, with help from Vagas, closed down Nate relentlessly. A pair of gigantic splashes by the beast from the turnbuckle ended the bout, although not the assault; that only stopped when Navajo Warrior chased Alamak from the ring. But Durango - now, apparently fully recovered - came to stand over the fallen Nate and gloat. How this defeat affects Nate's position as #1 contender will be seen at the next show.

QUICK RESULTS
Lehi David Smith w/Sister Destiny & Father Punishment pinned AJ Summers.
Jay Garland pinned "XXX" Lawrence Tyler.
Tommy Drake pinned GQ Gallo in a chain match.
"Mucha Lucha" defeated Payed Daily to become IZW Tag Team Champions.
IZW Western States Champion Peter Goodman defeated "Hawaiian Lion" John
Williams by submission.Lil' Nate pinned "Miracle" Mike James to become #1 contender for the
Heavyweight Championship.DETAILED REPORT
The IZW show started with Lehi David Smith introducing his latest "disciple" - an old IZW favorite, Father Punishment, who joined Sister Destiny in Smith's church. Smith was taking on A.J.Summers, who would probably have been giving away weight to Sister Destiny, so facing LDS was a almost impossible challenge. Still, Summers delivered a number of very hard kicks - at one point forcing a most unholy word from Smith's lips, and it took a choke-slam from Father Punishment, while the referee's back was turned, to let LDS put Summers away.
After this bout, and throughout the evening, drawings were held for lucky fans to win ECW merchandise, marking the appearance of the federation, for the first time in Phoenix. Announcer Johnnie Roxxx, assisted by Morgan and Erica D'Erico, gave away hats, T-shirts and DVDs to the enthusiastic crowd.
The second match featured Jay Garland, the wrestler formerly known as Mr. Showtyme, who had opted to start using his real name, in the hope of obtaining more respect than he claimed he had received. Enter former heavyweight champion, Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler, who suggested Garland earn respect in the ring - starting with Tyler. More or less cornered by his own words, Garland had to accept, and was soon getting a severe wrestling lesson from the ex-#1. However, Garland held his ground and managed to avoid defeat, slowly coming back
into the bout. When Tyler missed him in the corner, it presented a momentary opportunity
and Garland pounced, pinning his opponent for a win that seemed to shock him, as much as it did Tyler.Beaver Las Vagas entered the ring, threatening once more to take over IZW - though without Alamak by his side, it seemed to amuse the crowd more than anything, despite Las Vagas slapping Roxxx on his way out. Lil' Nate demanded a shot, one-on-one with Cowboy Jack Durango, but Jack's wife Adrenelyn announced all Nate had earned was a contest against Miracle Mike James to decide the #1 contender for the IZW Heavyweight belt.
The last contest in the first half was a chain match between GQ Gallo and Tommy Drake, who had been feuding each other, through tables, ladders and, yes, chairs for the past couple of months. A chain was hung over one corner, which could be used by whichever participant got to it; Gallo made the early attempt, but got busted open and also slammed on the entrance ramp for his pains by Drake, as the bout roamed the building. Gallo did finally get the weapon, and soon Drake's face was drenched in red, to the obvious discomfort of the crowd. However, Drake had his own chain hidden nearby, and a thunderous, chain-assisted elbow drop allowed him to claim the victory which had eluded him for so long.
After the break, Mucha Lucha, the team of Mucha Reigns and Lucha Reigns, got their shot at the tag championships, held by Sheik Samir Hussein and Payed Daily. The challengers got a huge break, when Daily announced Hussein's absence - to his enormous credit, Daily refused tooo back out of the bout, announcing it would take place under handicap rules. Despite this obvious disadvantage, he had a clear plan, trying to ensure he didn't get double-teamed by Mucha Lucha, and while he was fighting one-on-one, always had a chance of victory. But it couldn't last forever, and Daily finally went down, giving the belts to
the new champions. The Western States Title was on the line next, Peter Goodman defending it, with Adrenelyn in his corner, against a formidable threat from another former heavyweight champion, the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams. Williams had the size advantage, but Goodman's tactic was to work relentlessly on the challenger's left arm, and this proved very effective in helping neutralize the Lion's edge, though he still came close to taking the crown from Williams. It took Adrenelyn's help, with the aid of a fortuitously-loose piece of tape which let her work
Williams' arm like a puppet, to convince the referee Williams had fallen unconscious - Goodman retained the belt.
The evening's main event was the previously arranged bout to decide the #1 contender for the heavyweight title, between Lil' Nate and Miracle Mike James. This split the crowd right down the middle, with loud sections chanting for each man - and some people managing to cheer both simultaneously! While neither man is what you'd picture as "heavyweight", they were both clearly committed to giving their all, each showing exactly why he deserved a title-shot. Nate's offense was, perhaps, a cut above, an aerial assault from James derailed by a mid-air dropkick. And it was Nate's boot that won it for him too, a superkick letting him pin his opponent for the victory. Nothing now apparently stands between Nate and Cowboy Jack Durango...
The next IZW show takes place at The Sets in Tempe (SE corner of Mill + Southern) on October 24th. Doors open at 7pm, with admission $7 for all ages. For more information, please visit the Impact Zone Wrestling website at http://impactzonewrestling.com.

9/26/06 - IMPACT ZONE WRESTLING IN TEMPE, ARIZONNAAA RESULTS
The Impact Zone Wrestling show at The Sets on Tuesday began with an angry Hawaiian Lion, John Williams, coming out and demanding he receive a shot at Western States Champion, Peter Goodman. Williams believed he was entitled to it, because of his victory in Goodman's "Path to Greatness" gauntlet match at the previous show, but Goodman had failed to deliver. He called the champion out, but their discussion was interrupted by the arrival of Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler, who pointed out he had also gone undefeated in that tournament. The two eventually taunted Goodman into accepting a triple-threat match for the belt, but Goodman insisted it would have to take place later.
The first contest put Lehi David Smith, with Sister Destiny in his corner, against Mike G. Smith proved that the Arm of the Lord was fearsome indeed, hurling his smaller opponent bodily around the ring with divinely-inspired strength - and, on occasion, help from his discippllle. But G withstood his assault - however, to the great amusement of thee audience, that's more than can be said for Smith's trousers which, verily, did split asunder. This seemed to distract the man of faith, and G seized his chance to deliver a swift kick to the head, and follow up for a quick pin.
Beaver Las Vagas came out next, gloating about his "victory" over the Navajo Warrior. He claimed that he and his "pet", Alamak, would be taking over IZW, beginning in two weeks time... The next contest pitted Miracle Mike James against Mr. Showtyme, making his final appearance in IZW. This looked like it was over immediately it began, ending with an injury to Showtyme, but this was a masterful piece of trickery, used to lure James in, and it worked brilliantly. However, James regrouped, and began to assert his authority using speed and agility. Showtyme fought back, but was still eventually sent to the mat, and pinned - however, his post-bout speech was, as ever, far from conciliatory to the IZW fans. Regardless, we still wish him the best, and thank him for his efforts in Phoenix.
The triple-threat match for the Western States Title was next, between the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams, Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler and... Well, Peter Goodman was supposed to be there, but he was conspicuous by his absence when the bout started. After a few seconds fighting each other, Tyler and Williams took matters into their own hands, vanishing backstage before returning with the champion slung between them like a side of venison. Forced to fight, the unwilling Goodman was often on the receiving end, but no-one was able to get a clear advantage for long enought. There was some insane offense from all men, but Goodman eventually showed why he was champion: after Lion piledrove XXX, he was hurled from the ring by Goodman, who then took advantage of the prone challenger to pin Tyler and retain the belt.
After the interval, one half of the tag-team champions, Payed Daily, came to the ring. He explained his partner, Sheir Samir Hussein was unable to make it, and that he'd arranged a bout between two of the top tag teams. They were the team of the Reigns brothers, Mucha and Lucha, against AJ Summers and, in a welcome return, Ryan Lynch. While none of the four men in the ring were giant-sized, that didn't apply to their heart or skills, and this was a lightning-fast bout that could have ended in any direction, at almost any moment. However, the greater experience as a team of Mucha Lucha was probably crucial, and they took the victory that now appears to place them as the #1 contenders for the tag belt.
It would probably be wrong to describe the next event as a "bout", given GQ Gallo came to the ring carrying a folding chair, and his opponent, Tommy Drake, had a ladder and a large wrench. For this was a No Disqualification match, with the referee purely there to count to three and check for consciousness. It was exactly what you'd expect: nasty, brutal and vicious. Gallo was busted open early, but wouldn't stop, even when hurled into the ladder in one corner. He dug under the ring and pulled out a chain, which he wrapped around Drake's neck and choked him into unconsciousness. When he awoke, alone in the ring, Drake was defiant, demanding one final match against Gallo at the next show - and that promises to be even more savage.
The main event was for the IZW Heavyweight Championship belt, with challenger Lil' Nate taking on the current owner, 'Cowboy' Jack Durango, with Adrenelyn in his corner. There was no love lost between them at all, with Durango taunting Nate, offering him a free shot at him. That was an offer he regretted, as Nate took control of the bout early on, his quickness off-setting the champion's height and weight advantage. Durango withstood the storm, and definitely had the edge when he could get to grips with the challenger.
The ending was somewhat chaotic, to say the least. Jack tried to clothesline Nate, who ducked - unfortunately, the referee didn't, and was laid out. Both men had chances to win thereafter, but there was no-one to verify it: a substitute ref eventually arrived, only to get a low blow from Adrenelyn when he was about to count three on Durango. She was then chased from ringside by Erica D'Erico. The bout continued, still with no ref; when Jack tried to use the belt as a weapon, Nate ducked, and superkicked Durango. However, his subsequent splash from the top rope missed the mark, and he hit the belt, headfirst: Jack pinned him, just in time for the first referee, who was recovering, to confirm the pin, and Durango retained the title.

GALLO DUBBED 'KING OF NO RULES'
by ED THE KSince the past show, many fans of Impact Zone Wrestling have learned the old adage, often attrributed to Will Rogers, "Never wrestle a pig; you will both get dirty and only the pig will like it."
Regardless, tonight's show looks amazing! And all for a good cause. Here is the press release from the IZW Board of Directors:
The Men and Women of Arizona's Impact Zone Wrestling will come together this Tuesday the 26th of September to honor the memory of IZW student Octavio Luna. The money raised Tuesday night will be donated to Octavio's family. IZW has put together the following lineup for this week's event at The Sets (Mill/Southern-next to LA Fitness). All ages are welcome and bell time is 7:30. Tickets are only $7, but if you are interested in donating an extra dollar or two for the family to assist with funeral costs your generosity would be greatly appreciated.
In addition to a major announcement from the board of directors, GQ Gallo will take on Tommy Drake in a no Disqualification matchup.
Sheik Samir Huessein and Payed Daly will defend the IZW Tag Team Championship Titles against Mucha Lucha.
Cowboy Jack Durango will defend his IZW Heavyweight Championship against Lil Nate.
Peter Goodman, The Hawaiian Lion, Alamak, Miracle Mike James, The Navajo Warrior and more of your favorites from IZW will be in action this Tuesday as well to honor the memory of Octavio Luna.
Thank you for your continued support of IZW!
The no-DQ match between G. Q. Gallo and Tommy Drake has been coming for a long time! It was August 1, 2006, when Tommy Drake returned to Impact Zone Wrestling, but it is evident to even the most novice fan that their history dates back years.
At the last show, G. Q. Gallo tooted his own horn, but the truth is that he could have gone so far to coin himself as "The King of No Rules," and he would not be off-base. His history in these matches pales to no one, and considering both men are engaged in a blood feud, this promises to be Must-See (unless you have a queezy stomach, in which case it might be a "Can't-Watch").
Likewise, the IZW Board of Directors saw fit to reward the number-one contender Lil' Nate with a title shot against the champion. There have not been too many one-on-one encounters for us to draw history from featuring these two men, and both of them have come such a far way since their last match for the Western States championship in mid-2005 that those comparisons would be useless.
Since winning the IZW Heavyweight championship, Cowboy Jack Durango has been personally obsessed with proving himself as a true icon in IZW. I understand he is willing to do anything to retain the title. With all due respect to Lil' Nate. Or without.
Meanwhile, the IZW Tag Team champions will be put to a test tonight when they face a team that has the potential to dazzle them with speed. We have seen the champions hold their own against the power and strength of the Native Warriors, but we have not been tested by Lucha Libre. Lucha Reigns is now an established veteran of IZW, but this match might be the most important of his career so far. If the champions are overlooking these challengers, then be prepared for this match to be referenced in the history books!
Plus, events could transpire between Peter Goodman and Hawaiian Lion! Lion won the "Path to Greatness" gauntlet match, requesting a title match during his celebrations for Goodman's Western States championship. Of course, Goodman disregarded the gesture, "I assume that your pointing at your waist because you want ... food?" If Lion wants a title shot, then Goodman will be hard-pressed to prevent it. But history has a lot to teach us, especially how hard it is to get a championship belt out of Goodman's possession.
Finally, what could the official announcement from the IZW Board of Directors be? I have an inexplicable feeling that it is equally likely to be bad news for the fans as it is likely to be good news. We will have to see!
------------------------
It has been 10 days since the last Impact Zone Wrestling event, and the talent is geared up for another show this coming Tuesday night at The Sets. Once again, anything can happen and that cliche is even more true when there are no matches scheduled in advance.
Here is a brief review of the highlights of the last show:
AFROTRAGIC- Lil' Nate did all he could to get a championship title match, his first since May 23, and it appeared as though things might go his way. All the elements came together for him, including Cowboy Jack Durango establishing a beef with the referee (always a bad idea when you're champion, although in fairness to Cowboy, he had a point- those kids were waayyy too young to be sitting so close to the bar) and even Erica D'Erico made a surprise appearance as a spoiler for Adrenelyn's tactics.
In fact, everything was in place as Lil' Nate ascended to the top rope to deliver a Swandive Headbutt, until Cowboy Jack Durango moved out of the way and Nate landed headfirst onto the championship belt. From there, all Durango had to do was simply cover Nate to assure log another successful championship defense, and move one step closer to proving himself as an icon in Impact Zone Wrestling.
THE KING OF NO RULES- G. Q. Gallo and Tommy Drake bought the Home Depot down! Gallo brought his signature steel chair with him to the ring, and then Drake trumped him by having a steel ladder in tow. The match was hard-hitting, as expected, and both men had no qualms against enduring violence. At times, it almost seemed they were willing absorbing shots to prove they could handle it. But the cunning tactics of The King of No Rules prevailed when he choked out Drake with the use of a steel chain.
After Tommy Drake revived, he challenged G. Q. Gallo to one more round with the following stipulation: Steel Chain Match! So, make that one match scheduled for this Tuesday's card.
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT?- Like I said, I had a bad feeling about it. The major announcement was that Justin Roberts is coming back to town! Ok, so the announcement was rightly hidden as a gerund since the actual announcement was that on Sunday, October 15, ECW rolls into the Celebrity Theater. As such, there will be numerous giveaway's at the next IZW show, Tuesday, October 10.
ROOM FOR ONE MORE- Having won Peter Goodman's Path to Greatness gauntlet match, Hawaiian Lion had good reason to call out the Western States champion. As noted, it is the only championship in IZW that Lion has not held. But Lawrence Tyler surprised a lot of people when he arrived on the scene, interjecting himself into the situation, requesting a Three-Way Dance amongst himself, Lion, and Goodman.
Despite his attempts to get out of the match, Peter Goodman was forced to defend his title in a Triple Threat. Goodman initially no-showed the match, leaving Hawaiian Lion and Lawrence Tyler to grapple with the title at stake for all intents and purposes. But they soon reached a truce and sought out Goodman from the back. All three men stayed competitive, but Goodman got the ace in the end by sneaking in at the last second and stealing a pinfall to retain his belt.
TAG TEAM TURMOIL- Mucha y Lucha Reigns were prepared for a title shot at the last show, but Payed Daily questioned their spot as number-one contenders. Being the longest reigning champions in IZW, Daily felt that the Luchadores should prove themselves in a match against A. J. Summers and Ryan Lynch. Whichever team won the match would get the title shot. Not surprisingly, Mucha y Lucha scored the victory to earn a shot at the tag titles.
Technically, this title match should happen this Tuesday, but with the champions always capable of some underhanded trickery, I would not count on this match happening until the opening bell rings.

DETAILED REPORT
ED THE K
I don't know if there was a general consensus regarding the show last Tuesday, but I thought it was through and through, AWESOME! As far as delivering a little piece of everything, the show did it better than any wrestling event I remember. It was emotional, it was humorous, it was passionate, it was fun, it was intriguing, and it was wild! The evening started in honor and in memory of Octavio Luna, new IZW trainee and absolute fanatic. I first saw him at the shows in May, and his involvement in what was going on came straight from the heart. The lucha libre match was short & sweet, just long enough to be appreciated, and a great debute for two newbies (although I'm guessing they have wrestled a couple matches elsewhere). IZW could make Lucha Libre a division, similar to the cruiserweight division or the misplaced women's division. Peter Goodman's Path to Greatness (note the double-up on PG, good stuff!) Gauntlet alone had everything (emotion, humor, passion, fun, intrigue, wildness), thanks largely to LT's participation. I don't know the deal, but LT's first promo was outstanding! I have the text reprinted below and more comments, but it seemed as though everybody genuinely listened while he was speaking. To get that level of respect out of any crowd is no easy feat. Hawaiian Lion earned his victory over Mr. Showtyme, and the whole concept was a great re-introduction for Showtyme. I'm curious if he will have a place in PG Productions at the next show. Likewise, I wonder if Lion will be compensated for his tremendous victory. A simple, "Well, bye!" from Goodman hardly could be considered the spoils Peter mentioned at the outset. The Quarter-Hour of Power was truly a life-changing event for - well, just Destiny. It will be interesting to see what direction Lehi and Destiny take in coming weeks, and whether this faction will expand. The handicap match was done perfectly! Beaver has a unique connection with the fans that no one else has right now. It will change if he becomes more active, but he is such a character, and his pinfall over Nav was a great platform for him. Oh no, I just realized that means he'll probably be yammering about it next show! =) I thought the best match (from start to DQ finish) was Gallo/Drake. The tag match looked great and there was a lot of action but it was a little aimless? at times. But the bloodlust between "Robert" and "Cory" has turned into a good series. Plus, when the Gallo Nation shows up in force, they are so energetic that they just about steal the show. The main event was good, albeit "aimless." The beginning seemed to stall for time, yet 9:30 was nearing, so I don't think they needed any filler. Maybe stalling has become a standard in every IZW main event, like I had jokingly said back in Nov. (let's call it the Derrick King effect). Regardless, the work of Lil' Nate and Miracle Mike James was superb for their first team-up and the match was solid with a lot of action. In the end, Nate pinned Jack Durango with a Sunset Bomb, which puts Nate at #1 in the Official Rankings, so hopefully, the next show will feature a match between champion and #1-contender. Anyway, here's the text from Lawrence Tyler's promo after he got inside the ring. The emotion poured off the charts, and it is a moment I will never forget... "In life, sometimes you've got it all. In life, sometimes you think you have got everything. Let me tell you something, no matter how rich you are, no matter what you think you have, sooner or later, it all falls down. Sooner or later, it all crashes. Sooner or later, you think somebody's got your back but you're wrong. Now somebody's got my back. "Let me ask you a question, fans. If I gave you my back, would you stab it? If I gave you my back, are you sure? "Sooner or later, when it all crashes down, you either sit down on the floor & you cry about it, which I've done, but then you realize, all you've got is wrestling, and all you've got is people cheering for you, and all you've got is yourself! Because sooner or later, it all falls! "You've all been there. A girl breaks your heart, ****** on you. Your friend's sleeping with her, doesn't tell you! Granted, it sucks! But do you sit there? Or do you get up? "Sooner or later, it comes around and that time, my friend, is now!"
_______________________________________________________________
2nd reportThe last IZW show at The Sets began with a ten-count, in memoriam of recently-deceased IZW student Octavio Luna. The first match was under Lucha Libre rules and was a three-way dance, between Phantom II, Fly Boy Jr, and local favorite, Lucha Reigns. As you might imagine, this was a fast, high-flying contest, without a pause for audience or wrestlers to catch their breath. Plenty of near falls took place, and anyone might have prevailed, but it was Reigns who came out on top, defending his home turf and cementing his reputation as lucha libre master.
The head of PG Productions, Peter Goodman, came out and announced his 'Path to Greatness' tournament. The format would see two wrestlers fight; the winner then stayed in to face the next opponent. First up were Mike G and 'Outcast' David Taylor: a big boot to the face gave Taylor victory, but he was then eliminated in turn by Payed Daily. There was a surprise next, as former IZW heavyweight champion, Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler came out and his speech made it seem as if he had a serious score to settle with Daily. When the bout started, Tyler disposed of his opponent in a swift, brutal fashion, forcing him to tap out, and then left the ring, his mission apparently accomplished.
He didn't even stay around to fight the next contender, Hawaiian Lion, John Williams - which was probably a good thing for the Lion, who remained fresh for his matches. He took on Mucha Reigns and defeated him quickly with a suplex; AJ Summers had no greater success, being ruthlessly piledriven by Williams in what, at first, appeared to be the last match. However, Peter Goodman sprung a surprise, demanding Lion face his man, Mr. Showtyme, in the tournament final. It was clear Goodman hoped Williams would have been worn down by so many bouts, and Showtyme ruthlessly attacked Lion's leg, trying to hamper him further. But Lion used his renowned strength and stamina to hold on, and pinned Showtyme, much to Goodman's annoyance.
Before the next match, Lehi David Smith introduced his new disciple in his quest to return IZW to the path of righteousness: Sister Destiny. The bout in question was a handicap match, with Navajo Warrior facing Alamak and his "handler", Beaver Las Vagas. You wouldn't normally think Alamak needed the extra man, but Beaver was not really of enormous use: he basically refused to enter the ring if Navajo was not prone and helpless. Alamak, however, made sure that happened fairly often, and though Navajo was keen to get his hands on Beaver - largely why he agreed to the match - he was never quite able to do so. Finally, Alamak left the Warrior prone, and Beaver leapt on for the three-count, giving him a victory for which he really didn't deserve credit.
The audience was keen to see the next contest, which had been building for some time, like a hurricane. In it, GQ Gallo took on Tommy Drake, in what had all the makings of a grudge match. And it certainly did not disappoint in that area, with technical wrestling notable by its absence, in favor of a ferocious brawl that rampaged its way both inside and, mostly, outside of the ring. It was, in many ways, a surprise that this lasted as long as it did before the referee declared a double DQ. However, next time, it won't be an issue, as after this one, Drake and Gallo agreed to a No-holds Barred contest at the following show.
The main event pitted the IZW Heavyweight Champion, Cowboy Jack Durango, and the Western States Champion, Peter Goodman, with Adrenelyn also in their corner, against bitter rivals, 'Miracle' Mike James and Lil' Nate. This match was a result of the chaotic end to the heavyweight title bout between Durango, James and Nate at the previous show. That had finished in a no-contest thanks to Goodman, and there was clearly a lot of ill-will carried forward from that.
Durango was the largest man in the ring, and used that to good effect, but Nate and James had a clear battle-plan, and stuck to it well. Despite both being reigning title-holders, Durango and Goodman were unable to sustain an advantage over their opponents, despite coming close on a number of occasions, and the use of some very dubious tactics when the referee's back was turned. Finally, Nate got Jack's shoulders pinned to the canvas, and held on for victory, to the delight of the crowd.
But will that be the end of the matter? Find out at the next IZW show, scheduled for September 26th at The Sets in Tempe.
Toomiguci's Highs and Lows
This was a pretty damn good show that marked the in-ring return of Mr. Showtyme, as well as a fun tag team match. Sadly, the show started on a sad note as IZW paid their respects to their brother Octavius with a 10-Bell salute. So, we shall begin...Highs:

Mike G pinned A.J. Summers.
Destiny pinned Erica D'Erico.
IZW Western States Championship: Peter Goodman pinned Lucha Reigns.
"Outcast" David Taylor pinned GQ Gallo.
IZW Tag Team Championship: "Sheik Got Payed" defeated "The Native Warriors" by DQ.
IZW Heavyweight Championship: "Cowboy" Jack Durango vs. Lil' Nate vs. "Miracle" Mike James ended in a no contest.FULL REPORT
The latest IZW show at The Sets in Tempe, started with a bout between A.J. Summers and Mike G. Though this was only his second show, Summers has rapidly become a fan favorite, albeit with some good-natured ribbing thrown in regarding his size - or lack thereof! However, as last time, he showed no fear against a larger opponent, and IZW debutant Mike G soon realised that what matters isn't the size of the dog in the fight, it's the fight in the dog. However, his height and weight advantage prevailed in the end, with Mike G coming out on top for his first bout.
Heavyweight champion Cowboy Jack Durango made his way to the ring next, accompanied by new ally, Peter Goodman, and Adrenelyn. Durango blasted the crowd for overlooking his title credentials on Fan Appreciation Night, blaming them for forcing him into his unholy alliance with Goodman. Mike James charged out and demanded a title rematch - their previous bout ended with Durango's use of a chair on James's head - but Lil' Nate also had something to say. He'd spoken to the IZW directors, and they'd declared a three-way dance between himself, James and Durango for the heavyweight belt, to be held later that night.
The second match featured Erica D'Erico and Destiny. D'Erico had the best of the early running, but was unable to put her smaller opponent away. Destiny used her speed and agility to good effect, but if the truth be told, she would probably have to admit the outside help she received from Lehi David Smith was crucial. He first distracted D'Erico, then helped Destiny use the ropes for leverage when she pinned D'Erico to take the victory.
Peter Goodman put his Western States title on the line next, defending it against Lucha Reigns. The bout started in comedic fashion, with Goodman claiming victory, before discovering he had pinned the referee. But it wasn't long before it turned deadly serious. Reigns seemed to have the advantage inside the ring, but the champion realised this, and took the match to the outside where Lucha's high-flying talents were largely neutralized. This levelled the playing field, and Goodman took full advantage, pinning Reigns to retain the belt.
Lehi David Smith was back in the ring next, introducing Tommy Drake, though it was clear Drake was far more interested in calling out his former friend, and now hated rival, GQ Gallo, accusing him of caring more about his looks than his wrestling. Gallo, naturally, rushed in and the resulting brawl had to be broken up by security from The Sets. Gallo was back in action for the following bout, taking on Outcast David Taylor. This was a contest that really had the crowd involved, with both men having their supporters, and the resulting action was hard and heavy. Taylor came out on top, but Drake seized the chance to launch an assault on Gallo - once again, it took half a dozen men ttooo separate the two fighters.
'Sheik Got Payed' - the team of Payed Daily and Sheik Samiirrr Hussein - defended their tag crown next, taking on the re-formed team of Navajo Warrior and the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams, the Native Warriors. However, before things got under way, Beaver Las Vagas demanded a match for his "pet", Alamak, against Navajo: that was arranged for the next show. That done, battle commenced, and this was a brutal match - the most memorable moment saw a kick from Lion all but decapitate Payed, but it was all ferocious offense. The end came in typical SGP team fashion. Behind the referee's back, Payed tried to use the belt on Navajo: he ducked, and Sheik was flattened instead. However, Payed tossed the belt to Navajo then dropped to the floor, so when the referee turned, Navajo was caught "red-handed". He was disqualified despite his protests, allowing Hussein and Daily to keep the belts.
The main event was the previously-arranged three-way dance for the IZW Heavyweight title, between holder Cowboy Jack Durango, 'Miracle' Mike James and Lil' Nate - naturally, Peter Goodman and Adrenelynn were both to be found lurking at ringside. As is usual in a contest like this, all three contestants began cagily, watching to ensure their opponents never got a pin, as well as working for one themselves. However, such caution was rapidly thrown to the winds, and the pace accelerated to supersonic. Each man had his chances to win, and the match could have ended in any way, at almost any moment.
Seasoned fans of IZW were probaly not surprised by the eventual outcome, which saw Peter Goodman get in on the action, charging into the ring. His lack of subtlety immediately led to the referee declaring a no-contest - though, of course, that might have been Goodman's intention all along. However, the next event will see him officially involved, as he will be partnered with Cowboy Jack Durango, and facing Lil' Nate and 'Miracle' Mike James in a tag contest.

IZW Heavyweight Champion "Cowboy" Jack Durango pinned "Miracle" Mike James
A full house was at hand for the last Impact Zone Wrestling show at The Sets in Tempe. First out was new heavyweight title-holder, Cowboy Jack Durango - his former wife, Adrenelyn begged the champion to take her back, but Durango was having none of it. Instead, he announced his first defense would be later tonight, against longtime ally, 'Miracle' Mike James. The first match saw A.J.Summers, making his IZW debut, take on the Disco Machine - the latter received a warm reception from the crowd, though Summers' lack of height provoked some comments. However, he belied his short stature with a great performance in the ring, and both men played their part, delivering a fast and exciting opening battle, which was very much appreciated - and proved Disco isn't dead!
This was followed by a women's bout between Erica D'Erico and Nikki the New York Knockout. The fans were well behind D'Erico, which seemed to rile Nikki somewhat, and she had no hesitation in using all manner of illegal tactics to gain an advantage. At first, it looked like they might pay off and give her victory, but Erico used her height to good effect, and came back to claim the win. GQ Gallo was into the ring next, and his opponent, Tommy Drake, didn't even wait to be introduced before attacking Gallo. This was a result of the previous show where Gallo beat Drake down, and this was a vicious brawl. The ring proved too small, and when they left it, even the referee couldn't bring them back: the match officially ended in a double count-out, but didn't finish until a vicious slam by Drake left Gallo flattened on the entrance ramp.
The final match of the first half was for the Western States title with challenger - but former holder of the belt - Peter Goodman facing the champion, Lucha Reigns. This wasn't the first time they'd met at The Sets, and the result was everything you'd expect from the two, with Goodman desperate to regain the crown, but Lucha showing exactly why he's held it for so long. However, it was an external force that proved decisive, Adrenelyn distracting the referee, and tossing the belt to Goodman, who used it to level the champion. By the time the referee turned, he saw nothing but the three-count and Goodman captured the title for the second time.
After the intermission, tag champions Sheik Got Payed [Sheik Samir Hussein and Payed Daily] came out, but declared this would be a six-man match, having hired the monstrous Alamak from Beaver Las Vagas for the night. They were scheduled to face Navajo Warrior and the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams, but they also had a surprise team-mate, in the shape of former IZW Heavyweight Champion, Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler. This certainly evened things up, though Tyler took his share of punishment, thanks to some dirty tactics from the opposition. But evil did not prevail on this occasion, with the tag champions still going down, despite their gigantic partner. Fortunately for them, the extra man meant their belts were safe - for now...
The next match saw Lil' Nate take on Frankie 'The Future' Kazarian, whose career has seen him star with almost every great independent promotion in the US, as well as the WWE, and currently in TNA, where he's a former X Division champion. That's a quality pedigree, and Nate needed to be on the top of his game to keep up. The good news is, he was, and this tremendous contest seems certain to be a nominee for the 2006 Izzies as Match of the Year. It started carefully, but the build-up was relentless, each move topping the one before for power and intensity. It was the kind of bout no-one wanted to see end; Nate eventually came out on top, but Kazarian too received a terrific, well-deserved ovation from the fans, who were the REAL winners here.
The final match saw Cowboy Jack Durango make his promised first defense of the IZW Heavyweight title against another crowd favorite, 'Miracle' Mike James. This was a classic "size versus speed" duel, with Durango having the better of things when he got to grips with his smaller, faster opponent, but James hung tough, smartly staying out of the champion's reach.
The arrival of Goodman and Adrenelyn at ringside sent a ripple of concern through the crowd, especially as the referee had been accidentally flattened by a Durango clothesline. It looked like Goodman would use a chair on Durango, but Jack took the weapon away. Then, it seemed he'd attack Adrenelyn with it, but in a shocking turn of events, he flattened Mike James instead. The official missed all of this, but recovered in time to see James pinned, and Durango retained his title, albeit in very questionable circumstances.

Alamak w/Beaver Las Vagas pinned The Hawaiian Lion.
"Miracle" Mike James pinned Peter Goodman.
GQ Gallo pinned Tommy Drake.
"Cowboy" Jack Durango pinned Lionheart to become the new IZW Heavyweight Champion.FULL REPORT
The IZW show at the Sets started with an appearance by Miracle Mike James and Cowboy Jack Durango, both of who had matters they wanted to air. Both had lost at the previous event - James to IZW Heavyweight Champion Lionheart, Durango to long-time nemesis, Peter Goodman - and both had one thing on their mind: rematch. However, Goodman, in his role as majority shareholder of IZW, was in no mood to give them what they wanted: they'd get to fight, sure, but James would face Goodman, while Durango got a title shot against Lionheart.
That would come later. The first match in the ring was Lil' Nate taking on Payed Daily, who has been trying to make a name for himself as a singles fighter, in the absence of his co-tag champion, Sheik Samir Hussein. So far, things have not gone smoothly for Daily, and crowd favorite Nate was in no mood to demonstrate any mercy. Daily demonstrated some fine power, but Nate's agility and quickness were too much for Daily to handle on his own. He was unable to escape another one of Nate's spectacular finishing moves, but still has the tag belt to console him.
A title was on the line in the next bout, however, with Lucha Reigns defending his Western States title against The Black Dragon, in a match of two concealed identities - one from south of the border, the otheerrr from the Far East. The result was a spectacular clash of styles, played out for the audience at a breathless pace. It seemed inevitable that this would come down to who made a mistake first, and so it proved, with a slip by the Dragon, allowing the champion in, and he took full advantage, retaining his title and slaying the Dragon.
The third contest was the Hawaiian Lion, John William, facing the beast from the Dark Continent, Alamak - in addition to the Lost Idol of Islas, Beaver Las Vagas held new power over his "pet", having apparently discovered Alamak's liking for Gummi Bears! This helped Beaver control the monster, whose grasp of the finer points of wrestling - such as pinning an opponent - still leaves a little to be desired. However, there's no doubting his strength and when he splashed down on Lion from the middle rope, this match was quickly over thereafter.
There was a brief interruption before the following contest, with Lehi David Smith trying to save the soul of 'Outcast' David Taylor: it was, however, the body of Smith which needed saving after Taylor was finished with him. This was a prelude to Miracle Mike James vs. Peter Goodman. Goodman's battle plan soon became clear - slow James down by working over his ankle. This definitely had an impact, and it looked like Goodman would prevail. But James gritted his teeth and soared off the top rope, almost grazing The Sets ceiling, before landing on Goodman and following up for the pin.
The penultimate bout saw the return of an old favourite to Impact Zone Wrestling, in Tommy Drake, fighting for the first time in almost two years. He took on GQ Gallo, in a hard-hitting contest that shook The Sets, and he certainly gave his former tag partner a run for his money. However, it's probably fair to say that Drake's long absence left him a little ring-rusty. Gallo was able to use that to his advantage, pinning Drake, though his opponent certainly made his presence felt, and it'll be interesting to see where he goes from here.
Finally, Cowboy Jack Durango got his title shot against the IZW Heavyweight Champion Lionheart. He certainly had size on his side compared to the title-holder, but Lionheart was unfazed, having met - and beaten - big men before to retain the belt. As against these, he used his speed and flexibility to control the bout, but it was clear that Jack had learned from the mistakes of previous challengers and didn't let Lionheart dictate proceedings.
However, the longer the match wore on, the greater the chance it seemed that stamina would come into play - and Jack's hard-drinkin', hell-raisin' ways appeared to stack the deck against him there. But was Lionheart able to stay out of Durango's reach long enough to take advantage as his opponent slowed? The match teetered, finely balanced, but to the huge delight of the crowd, Cowboy Jack was able to keep Lionheart's shoulders down for three seconds, and capture the IZW Heavyweight Title for the first time. The last time Jack was seen, was at the bar, with two bottles of beer in each hand, so it's safe to say that celebrations went on long into the night after this one...

IZW 7/18/06
markwithnoname Posted: Jul 19 2006, 05:58 PMThis is the part of the year where it sucks to live in Arizona. It's hot, it's humid, and - memo to The Sets - air-conditioning thhaaat works is a necessity, not a luxury. I had to go and sit in my car at interval to get cool. Not a good sign, that. Anyway, Fan Appreciation Night, and a loud, boisterous crowd in attendance: it doesn't seem that the launching of the ECW brand on Tuesday nights has hit IZW all that hard. This might be because - Mike Knox aside - it really isn't a very good show, at lleeast, not yet. Whether it'll get the chance to become one, only Vince McMahon knows.
New ring announcer, Johnny Rox (who I think did RPW's shows?) was in charge of Fan Appreciation Night, and this time, seemed like the fans went for most of the "obvious" choices. I'm in kinda two minds about that, as last time out, the most lopsided match, Lucha Reigns against Lawrence Tyler, turned out to be one of the best for the entire year. This time, the matches were more even, but lacked much of the random element that made things interesting: in many ways, this felt little different from a normal show. Only three of the bouts went the way I voted, at least.
Lehi David Smith was the designated staller, sent out there to keep the crowd "entertained" while the votes were (allegedly) tallied - I say that, since I noticed that this year, it was done in the back... He did the job very well, warming up the crowd by reading from the memoirs of Joseph Smith, and starting over when he was interrupted, which happened about every second word, naturally. [Though the 'Shut the fuck up!' chant was perhaps, a little inappropriate...]
First match pitted former referee and ring announcer, Outcast David Taylor against Alamak, and this was probably the worst match of the night. Not awful, mind you, just below par, on a night of fine matches - it probably didn't help they had least time to put the bout together. Taylor looked a little ring-rusty, and I'm wondering if he was perhaps a late replacement? An interesting contrast of height vs. weight, though this might have made things more difficult for both competitors. I think the highlight was Taylor's attempt to slam the African giant. He might as well have tried to slam the African continent.
Also amused by Beaver using the Lost Idol of "Islas" to control Alamak, which is a nice inside joke. No, I'm not going to spoil things by explaining it. :-) The next match was Lucha Reigns vs. Lil' Nate, which was a fairly obvious pick, but highly entertaining, nonetheless. The bout pretty much proceeded as expected, with some great sequences of high spots, which given the limited amount of preparation they had, was truly impressive. When Nate vanished from the ring on the far side, I thought he was dead. Reigns held on to his title, and is settling in nicely to the role.
Payed Daily vs. Hawaiian Lion John Williams completed the first half, with Williams beating one half of the tag champions (no sign of Sheik last night, a shame given his long-held role as a fan favorite) to maintain his run of success over them. Daily seems to have been doing the job a lot lately, and with the lack of action on the tag-title front, seems a bit stuck in limbo, not really going anywhere and with no particular feuds or storyline action. Still, he and Williams put on an excellent match, which could perhaps, on another evening, have been a Bout of the Night contender.
After retreating to my car for some cool air during the interval, things continued to heat up in the second half, with Cowboy Jack facing Peter Goodman - an obvious choice, but none the less intense for it, highlighted by Adrenelyn's heel turn, shifting her allegiance to Peter Goodman. Though, actually, from the moment she came out, there was something different, not quite right, that foreshadowed the switch. That alone would have made the bout memorable, but Durango and Goodman played their part too. Perhaps the most unforgettable sight of the whole night was Cowboy Jack Durango singing Oops, I Did It Again with the karaoke guy in the main bar after the event. Clearly, the loss of Adrenelyn had unsprung a cog in his brain. :-)
The fans selected Gallo vs. Navajo as the semi-main event - this wasn't one that would have needed much more pre-planning, since these two have perhaps got more experience with each other than anyone on the whole IZW roster. And you could tell, as this was probably the slickest match of the evening. Great use of a chair, teased by Gallo - and inevitably, he ended getting planted, face-first, onto it. [From where I was sitting, that's how it looked, anyway; I'm fairly sure there was some kind of trick to that, but I was left spitting teeth for the rest of the bout] Okay, so that is the match of the nig...
But wait! There's more! As they say on those informercials. The main event pitted Mike James against Lionheart for the IZW Heavyweight Title - okay, I think the term "Heavyweight" is probably a bit mis-placed there, given both men, combined, plus 50 pounds, would still probably be outweighed by Mike Knox. But that aside, this was a great contest: I was surprised to see how long the two kept going. James, in particular, has been involved in some very quick contests, which made me wonder if his high-flying style was at the cost of his stamina.
However, this had both the length, and the content, befitting a main event: it started off as a surprisingly mat-based, technical match but it wasn't long before it exploded into the level of insane gymnastics expected from both men. There was a real sense that anything could happen, any time, and Lionheart was, for once, facing an opponent where his lack of size wasn't the elephant in the corner of the room. Credit the fans - including me! - for picking it, and both men for stepping up their game on the night. Lionheart retained the belt, in what was the Match of the Night (no, really!).
All told, a damn good show, with hardly a weak spot or slow moment to it. My enjoyment was probably enhanced by the fact that it had been almost a month since the last show, absence making my heart grow fonder, but I think even any neutrals would have to say that this was a great event, and should certainly become a regular fixture on the IZW calendar.

IZW results from 7/18/06
Alamak managed by Beaver Las Vagas pinned "Outcast" Dave Taylor.
IZW Western States Champion Lucha Reigns pinned Lil' Nate.
"Hawaiian Lion" John Williams defeated IZW Tag Team Champion Payed Daily.
"PG Productions" Peter Goodman pinned "Cowboy" Jack Durango.
The Navajo Warrior pinned GQ Gallo.
IZW Heavyweight Champion Lionheart pinned "Miracle" Mike James.
The second annual IZW Fan Appreciation Night took place at The Sets in Tempe on Tuesday, with the audience getting to choose the card, their ballots determining the six matches that would take place. There was much jockeying for position before hand, with Peter Goodman, Heavyweight Champion Lionheart, Cowboy Jack and Lil' Nate all making their pitches for votes. Beaver Las Vagas also demanded a rematch for his protege Alamak against the Navajo Warrior, but it was pointed out by new ring announcer Johnny Roxxx, that his rant was somewhat wasted, since the balloting had already closed by that stage...
After a brief interruption by Lehi David Smith - though the crowd made their feelings very clear, that it wasn't brief enough - Alamak was indeed in the first bout. However, he was facing 'Outcast' David Taylor, with Beaver at ringside, using an artefact called "The Lost Idol of Islas" to control the monster. Taylor may have been giving away a number of pounds, but had the height and the reach - when he used this to his advantage, he was able to tame the savage beast. But when the artefact came into play, Alamak proved it was no American Idol, clocking Taylor with it, and splashing down onto his helpless opponent for victory.
The next contest was for the IZW Western States Title, with the current champion, Lucha Reigns defending his belt - the contender getting a shot, as chosen by the fans, was Lil' Nate, and there's no denying, the audience put together a great contest. The styles of these two complemented each other marvelously, and this was a lightning-fast match that enthralled the crowd. First, Nate had the edge, but he was unable to quite pin the agile Mexican, and eventually, Reigns spun, jumped and kicked his way back, retaining the crown.
The final match of the opening segment saw the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams, face one half of the tag team champions, Payed Daily. These two had met in tag action in early June, when Daily and his partner Hussein came out ahead of Williams and Gallo. However, they had also met in a singles match at the end of May, when Williams was victorious - and that's what some in the crowd wanted again this time, chanting "Lion's gonna kill you..." Initially, this looked like a double-countout, but the match was restarted by demand of the fighters, and Daily couldn't defeat the grappling superiority of the Lion, though battled heroically before going down.
After the interval, the crowd decided that it would be Cowboy Jack Durango who would face Peter Goodman - they clearly wanted fireworks, and were not disappointed. The hatred these two felt for each other was apparent even before the bell, and this translated into a savage brawl that rampaged around The Sets. But the most shocking turn of events was Jack's wife, Adrenelyn, tearing off her wedding band and switching sides on him mid-bout, choosing to be with her husband's enemy instead. Perhaps fatally - but understandably - distracted, Durango fell to Goodman, llooosing not only the bout to his opponent, but also his woman.
For the penultimate bout, an opponent had to be found for the Navajo Warrior, and the audience chose to go back in time, pitting him against his former partner, GQ Gallo. This battle of veterans proved a hard fought affair, with the duo's obvious knowledge of each other's strengths and weaknesses making for an intriguing match-up. Gallo tried to turn the match hardcore, bringing a chair into play, but ended up falling onto it himself, and the match swung towards his opponent from there on, Navajo finally coming out on top.
The question of who would get a heavyweight title shot against reigning champion Lionheart split the fans like no other, and this was the closest vote of the evening. In the end, however, 'Miracle' Mike James came out just on top, and even those who voted elsewhere could not argue he deserved a shot. And the choice of the crowd was a fabulous one that combined technical skill with high-flying agility and literally dozens of near-falls for both men.
James made it clear early that he would put everything on the line, and Lionheart stepped up to the challenge, matching James move for move, blow for blow, and escape for escape. A dozen times, you'd swear the bout was over, but somehow, an extra ounce of energy was dredged up, and a shoulder raised. But when James missed a high-risk maneoever off the top rope, Lionheart was able to capitalize, pouncing to pin the challenger, retain the title and bring Fan Appreciation Night to a marvellous - and very much appreciated - climax.

_______________________________________________________________"Miracle" Mike James pinned IZW Tag Team Champion Payed Daily.
Lehi David Smith pinned Mucha Reigns.
GQ Gallo pinned Khan Kussion.
The Navajo Warrior pinned Alamak.
"Team IZW" "XXX" Lawrence Tyler, "Cowboy" Jack Durango, Lil' Nate & Lucha Reigns defeated "PG Productions" Peter Goodman, Mr. Showtyme, Tyrell Hunter & IZW Champion Lionheart in an eight man elimination tagteam match.
Special guest announcer for the IZW show at The Sets on Tuesday was one half of the IZW tag-team champions, Sheik Samir Hussein. First to the ring was 'Miracle' Mike James demanding a bout against GQ Gallo, after their brief alliance collapsed at the previous event. The Sheik, however, was having none of that and insisted James face Samir's partner, Payed Daily. The result was a classic 'speed vs. strength' contest, with James giving away more than a few pounds, but countering with quickness and agility. In the end, a leap off the top turnbuckle caught Payed, leaving James the victor, and Sheik clearly unimpressed.
Lehi David Smith took on another of IZW's "sinners" next. After the thrashing Smith received from Shawn Osborne last show, he wisely opted for a smaller opponent this time, calling out Mucha Reigns as an illegal immigrant. As in the opening contest, Reigns, one half of the 'Mucha Lucha' tag-team, found himself in trouble whenever his opponent got to grips, and aimed to keep his distance, wearing Smith down with quick attacks from a variety of angles. However, Smith eventually reeled in his man, pinning Reigns to win one for...well, what he'd claim were the good guys, but the crowd's opinion differed somewhat.
GQ Gallo came to the ring next, tearing into Mike James and demanding a title-shot - any title, against anyone. Answering tthhhe call was Utah's Kahn Kussion, who put his Ultra Championship Wrestling-Zero Ultra-X belt on the line. Kussion is currently ranked in the top three fighters of the Salt Lake City federation, and showed why, with a well-balanced range of offense. But Gallo was not to be denied, and hit back with some ferocious attacks of his own. Defense was not an option here, and it was Gallo who came out victorious, to take the belt. The two men will face each other again on Saturday, on Kussion's home territory in Utah, this time in tag-team action.
After the break, the Navajo Warrior got his long-desire match against the monstrous Alamak, who had beaten the Warrior to a pulp with sneak attacks at the previous two events. This time, Navajo was ready, and that put the contest on an entirely different footing. Alamak still had his bulk, and used it to hellish effect, but when he missed his signature splash, Navajo was able to roll up the beast - and with his manager Beaver Las Vagas absent, there was little Alamak could he. He tried to continue after the bell, but was driven away by Navajo, wielding a leather strap.
The main event was an eight-man contest, pitting the team of PG Production (Peter Goodman, IZW Heavyweight champion Lionheart and the 'Soul Patrol', Tyrell Hunter and Mr Showtyme) against Team IZW (Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler, Cowboy Jack Durango, Lucha Reigns and Lil' Nate), with Adrenelyn in their corner. While supposedly one-one-one, elimination-style, this was rarely the case, with anything up to four separate brawls going on at the same time. The order of departure was as follows:
1) Durango eliminated by Goodman
2) Reigns by Hunter
3) Hunter by Nate
4) Showtyme by Tyler
5) Goodman by Nate
This left Lionheart alone, to face Tyler and Durango; he decided discretion was the better part of valor, and opted to make a strategic withdrawal. This disappointed his opponents, but the crowd sensed this is probably not the end of the matter. We will see at the next show...______________________________________________________________

_______________________________________________________________Soul Patrol" Mr. Showtyme & Tyrell Hunter defeated "Miracle" Mike Jmaes & GQ Gallo.
"Bad Seed" Shawn Osborne pinned Flood.
IZW Tag Team Champions "Sheik got Payed" Sheik Samir
Hussein & Payed Daily defeated "Native Warriors"
"Hawaiian Lion" John Williams & Navajo Warrior.
Erica D'Erico pinned "Tomboy" Tomi Kyle.
Peter Goodman pinned Lil' Nate.
IZW Champion Lionheart defeated "XXX" Lawrence Tyler & Lucha Reigns in a triple threat match.
The first wrestler to the ring was 'Miracle' Mike James, his ribs still taped up after the brutal assault by Alamak at the last show. He asked GQ Gallo to be his tag-partner, and Gallo agreed, forming the New Break-a-Heart Nation. Their opponents were Tyrell Hunter and Mr. Showtyme, the Soul Patrol, who after suffering a pair of atomic wedgies, wasted no time in attacking James's obvious weakness. James fought back bravely, and with Gallo's help almost came away victorious. But an ill-advised moonsault hurt James more than his foes, and they pinned him before he could recover. To add insult to injury, a disgruntled Gallo attacked him after the contest; it looks like the partnership was indeed "for one night only".
Next up was an old face, in a new guise. Former superhero Flood revealed his identity as Levi David Smith, from Utah, a clean-cut, God-fearing type who vowed to clean up IZW, one wrestler at a time. However, he might have been better advised to start with someone other than Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne, fresh off his contest against Gregory Helms on WWE Velocity. Osborne mocked Smith mercilessly, and followed that up with a brutal pounding. Smith fought hard, but could not prevail, and - maybe because the night was 6/6/06 - had to give the devil his due on this occasion.
The next contest saw the re-formation of an old, classic tag-team: Native Blood, pairing Hawaiian Lion John Williams once again with the Navajo Warrior - both men had appeared on WWE Heat in Washington earlier in the week, which may have rekindled their team spirit. They were taking on tag champions Sheik Got Payed, the team of Sheik Samir Hussein and Payed Daily, and the challengers tore into the belt-holders as if they'd never been apart. It took all the champs' stamina to withstand the pounding, but it looked as if nothing could keep them their titles. Nothing, that is, except the arrival of Alamak, led by Beaver Las Vegas; he attacked Navajo, leaving his partner outnumbered, and Lion was forced to succumb to Hussein's Camel Clutch. Nor did the bell stop Alamak's assault on Navajo...
After the interval, Erica D'Errico faced 'Tomboy' Tommi Kyle, both women looking to cement their positions in the blossoming IZW women's division. As against Destiny, D'Errico had a significant height advantage, and used this additional leverage to good advantage. While Kyle kept trying to close in on her opponent, and was wise to do so, D'Errico largely controlled the contest, and eventually pinned Kyle to give her another victory. That keeps D'Errico, unofficially at least, the #1 woman in IZW.
Peter Goodman entered the ring, furious about the switch pulled at the last show when he lost to Antonio Mestre, and demanded Cowboy Jack Durango face him. Adrenelyn entered, coolly pointing out that Goodman knew very well Jack wasn't around. Instead, Goodman faced another old adversary and former ally, in Lil' Nate. These two have a long history and this showed in a ferocious battle that raged both in and outside the ring. First one man, then the other had an edge as the advantage rolled back and forth. Finally, a missed splash by Goodman gave Nate a momentary chance and he rolled up Goodman, inflicting another crushing defeat on the head of PG Productions.
Finally, Justin Roberts came out to introduce the main event - before he got to that, however, Hawaiian Lion appeared and said that while the Navajo Warrior wasn't able to come to the ring himself, he demanded a match, one-on-one, with Alamak at the next show; Roberts agreed that this would take place. The final contest was a three-way dance between Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler, Lucha Reigns and reigning champion Lionheart, for the IZW Heavyweight title. This was initially a cagey match, with the combatants reluctant to commit themselves too early, for fear of handing over an advantage to the third man. However, it wasn't long before all such caution was thrown to the winds, and the trio were blasting away at each other.
Tyler was the largest man in the ring, and Reigns perhaps the quickest, but Lionheart had a foot in both camps, and his ring smarts provided the crucial edge. Tyler slammed Lucha down, but Lionheart then took XXX out and pounced on Reigns - before Tyler recovered, the three-count was complete, and Lionheart had retained the heavyweight crown once again. That was not the end of the excitement, as the evening ended with a 4-on-4, elimination match being arranged. In this, Peter Goodman and his PG Production cronies would face Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler and three wrestlers of this choosing at the next show...

IZW Heavyweight Champion Lionheart pinned Lil' Nate.Antonio Mestre pinned Peter Goodman.
The IZW show at The Sets on Tuesday started with the professional debut of the winner of Impact Zone Idol, Destiny. She faced Erica D'Errico in her first match, a tough opponent for a rookie, since Errico had come within an inch of taking the IZW tag team titles with her partner Morgan, not long ago. She also had a significant height advantage over Destiny, and used this leverage to good effect. The newcomer fought hard, but experience won out on this occasion, D'Errico pinning Destiny for the win.
Next to the ring were PG Productions, led by Peter Goodman. He crowed about Lionheart, disguised as Lucha Reigns, "winning" the heavyweight belt last time from Lawrence Tyler. However, IZW owner Justin Roberts came out and announced the board of directors had decided that, since Lionheart had been fired, he was ineligible for the title, and was stripped of it as a result. Goodman reminded Roberts of PG Productions' sponsorship of the federation and threatened to sue: Roberts relented, and the sides negotiated a deal where Lionheart would be re-instated to the federation, in exchange for fighting a title match against the REAL Lucha Reigns.
The next bout pitted the Institution of IZW, GQ Gallo, against 'Miracle' Mike James. James was, by far, the smaller man here, but showed no fear at all, and the crowd cheered on his every move. Gallo fought back with his formidable intensity, using his strength to counter James's speed and agility. Gallo came out on top, but after the final bell, Beaver Las Vagas and his protege, the savage Kamala, seized the chance to brutalize James until the Navajo Warrior drove them off with the aid of a leather strap.
The final match before the interval saw Mr. Showtyme and Tyrell Hunter, part of PG Productions and now going by the name of 'The Soul Patrol', facing 'Mucha Lucha', the team of Lucha Reigns and his similarly-masked
brother, Mucha Reigns, who was making his Sets debut. There was little love on view here, with the Reigns boys still upset at the treatment of Lucha by PG Productions last time, and the Patrol intent on proving that they could handle him inside the ring as well as out. Mucha Lucha got the win, but their opponents didn't stop when the bell rung, and continued to beat on Lucha, with the obvious aim of weakening him for his scheduled title-shot.After the break, Payed Daily faced the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams, in a rematch of their encounter at the previous event. Williams won that by submission, and buoyed with confidence, demanded more this time: specifically, a shot at the tag belt held by Daily and Sheik Samir Hussein if he beat Payed again. Payed accepted, and this contest was as tough and ferocious as their first encounter. Lion had the edge in weight, but Payed's strength was very impressive and he almost pinned Williams more than once. However, the Lion's mat skills stood him in good stead, and when he locked on, Daily had no option but to tap out once more.
Lucha Reigns was supposed to get his title shot next, versus Lionheart, but his brother Mucha came to the ring and explained that Lucha was too badly hurt to fight. Seizing the opportunity, Lil' Nate entered, and after consulting with fans, owner Roberts made an executive decision to give Nate the shot instead. Lionheart was less impressed, but to his credit, stepped up and the pair went at each other, hammer and tongs. The match went on at a ferocious pace, for far longer than expected - each time the audience was sure it was over, an extra ounce of strength was found for the necessary escape. Finally, Lionheart retained his belt, pinning Nate: while undeniably disappointing the fans, even they would have to admit this went a long way to prove Lionheart's credentials as heavyweight champion.
The final bout pitted Peter Goodman against a mystery opponent arranged by Justin Roberts. At first, it looked like it was Cowboy Jack Durango, but he was simply there to introduce the real contestant - and to the delight of longtime IZW fans, this was the return of everyone's favorite Brazillian, Antonio Mestre. It really didn't seem like Goodman wanted to take this match, but his pride wouldn't let him back out, and the two former allies in the California Connection, put on a classic match.
Mestre's kicks and spins proved difficult for Goodman to counter, but the former IZW champion dug deep and stormed back. He knews Mestre's knee was weak, and attacked it ferociously, crippling his opponent. When Mestre fell from the ring onto it, the contest looked like it was over, and Goodman taunted the Brazillian as he was helped from the ring. But his cruel words only turned Mestre back to the ring, and he finished Goodman off, to the delight of the crowd.

________________________________________________________________The Impact Zone Wrestling show at The Sets began with Mr Showtyme holding the Western States title belt, though announcer David Taylor quickly reminded everyone this was not recognised, since Lucha Reigns had won the title last time out. Showtyme was there to face 'Miracle' Mike James, and soon discovered why James has been ranked the #1 wrestler in IZW. Showtyme fought back hard, but James' athletic ability proved too much, and a splash off the top rope clinched victory.
Hollywood Yates has been on a tear through IZW since his return, and came up against a formidable opponent in GQ Gallo, who just two weeks ago, only narrowly lost to Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler in a heavyweight title bout. This was, as you'd expect, a hard-fought encounter between two of the biggest and most powerful men in the federation with the ring shaking from the impact of their slams on each other. But it was Erica D'Errico, Yates' valet, who proved decisive, disabling Gallo with a low blow while the referee's back was turned, that allowed Yates an easy follow-up pin.
The Navajo Warrior came out, fresh back from a successful tour of the Far East. But former ring announcer Beaver Las Vagas entered, wearing a pith helmet, to berate Navajo and introduce his prodigy, the mysterious Lama, who is apparently a jungle warrior from the Dark Continent. Beaver's glee proved entirely justified, as the Lama launched a brutal assault on the Warrior, ignoring the referee's demands to stop. This eventually led to Navajo winning by DQ, but he definitely came out the worse for wear, and he may have wished he stayed in Japan. But he was helped by a surprising ally - former tag partner, but recent mortal enemy, Hawaiian Lion, John Williams...
The following match has been eagerly-anticipated, with Peter Goodman and Cowboy Jack Durango finally meeting, after a feud that had gone on for almost three months. And this wasted no time getting started, Durango rushing in after Goodman's minions had been dispatched from ringside. He took the initiative early on, even making Goodman kiss the feet of Mrs. Durango (a.k.a. Adrenelyn), but Goodman fought back. The return of his minions destroyed all semblance of order, and with both men brawling against each other beyond the ropes, the official had no option but to count both men out and declare this a no-contest.
The next contest may have looked like a mismatch on paper, given the huge difference in size between Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne and Lil' Nate. But Nate's speed made him a slippery customer: when he used that to stay out of Osborne's clutches, he had the advantage. However, if Osborne closed the distance, he could bring the pain to Nate, and showed no hesitation in so doing. It was a tough struggle, but the bigger man won out, leaving Nate bruised and battered, but deserving credit for even taking on such an opponent.
The penultimate contest pitted another wrestler back from tour, the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams, against one half of the tag champions, in the shape of Payed Daily - the other half, Sheik Samir Hussein was lurking in Daily's corner. That gave Daily an advantage he was happy to use, especially when the referee was distraced, but he showed himself to be no poor wrestler one on one, going toe-to-toe with the bigger Lion, and coming close to victory more than once. However, Williams' mat skills proved crucial; when he locked onto his opponent, while Daily resisted bravely, he finally had to tap out.
The final contest was for the IZW Heavyweight Championship, with champion Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler taking on Lucha Reigns. While Lucha had won the Western States title at the last show, it seemed he'd perhaps outreached himself here. After all, to hold onto his belt, Tyler had recently beaten the likes of Train, GQ Gallo and Shawn Osborne, all much bigger men than Reigns. However, what were Peter Goodman - a man with no dog in this fight - and the rest of PG Productions doing at ringside?
Regardless of the reason, what they were actually doing was, seriously distracting Lawrence Tyler. He only had one eye free for Reigns, and as a result, despite his size advantage, Reigns was a handful. And, in a shocking turn of events, the challenger pinned Tyler in surprisingly short order. Goodman and his team celebrated, as Tyler left the ring without his belt, and the reason for their delight soon became clear as Lucha took of his mask to reveal...none other than the disgraced and fired Lionheart! How the IZW Board of Directors will handle this deceit remains to be seen, but a decision should be made by the next show.

Lucha pinned Mr Showtyme to become New Western States Champion
Lawrence Tyler pinned GQ Gallo to retain IZW Heavy Weight Championship
_______________________________________________________________Detailed Report
It was a night of changes at Impact Zone Wrestling's latest show, at The Sets in Tempe on Tuesday night. The first one was new ring announcer, 'Outcast' David Taylor, looking very dapper in his suit, and claiming that back-to-back losses to Hollywood Yates had left him fed up of fighting, so he was on the mic tonight.
The opening contest saw the return of crowd favorite and former tag champion, Ryan Lynch. However, he was facing top heavyweight contender Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne, who was clearly upset at being relegated to the opening bout. He tore into Lynch, and demolished him in short order, perhaps leaving the returnee wishing he'd taken another week off. But the statement Osborne made was clear: he still believes he is among IZW's top wrestlers.
Next up was a match with more than the usual at stake. After prising Flood off a defenseless Lucha Reigns, 'Miracle' Mike James had put his beloved locks on the line, challenging Flood to a "Hair vs. Mask" context, in which the loser would have to sacrifice their very identity. Needless to say, with so much to play for, both men gave their all, both in and outside the ring. At first, it looked like Flood had won, but the head referee spotted James's foot on the ropes, and the match was restarted. This time, James came out on top, and despite Flood's pleas, stripped him of the mask and flung it into the crowd, sending his opponent scurrying out, hands over his face.
Peter Goodman came out next, berating the fans, the authorities and, well, just about everyone in the state of Arizona. Inevitably, his mortal enemy, Cowboy Jack Durango, came out and tried to get to Goodman - surprisingly, the Californian apparently agreed to a match. But first, it was one of his henchmen, Tyrell Hunter, facing another longtime Goodman nemesis, Lil' Nate. Nate had the edge in speed, while Hunter had Goodman acting as an inevitable distraction. But it was another outsider, Mr. Showtyme, who flatted Nate while the ref's back was turned and Hunter exploited the opportunity, pinning Nate.
In the contest that followed, Payed Daily, with Sheik Samir Hussein, faced Hollywood Yates, who had Erica D'Errico in his corner. Hollywood made the early running, but Payed is renowned for his strength and stamina, and fought his way back into the match with some hard-hitting moves of his own. However, it was Yates who came out on top - or, at least, he won the bout. After the bell, on the other hand, he was brutally assaulted by Shawn Osborne, while D'Errico was kept from helping him.
The audience was geared up to see Peter Goodman vs. Jack Durango next, but Goodman, with glee, told Jack to read the fine print, where it said Goodman was actually fighting *Mrs* Jack Durango. Adrenelyn's horror on hearing this was apparent, and Jack's anger too, but there was no escape. While initially, this was as one-sided as you'd expect, Goodman seemed to have forgotten his opponent used to be IZW Women's Champion, back before she married Jack. Gradually, she remembered her skills, and Goodman found himself with a fight on his hands. Finally, Adrenelyn managed to pull out a remarkable victory over a stunned Goodman, who tried to save face by demanding a real contest with Durango at the next event.
Mr. Showtyme defended his Western States belt against Lucha Reigns, and tried to take an early advantage by rushing the ring. But the Mexican was ready for him, and was soon using his superior speed to great effect. Showtyme fought back, intent on keeping the title, and came close to doing just that, the bout swinging his way whenever the pair got to grips. Tyrell Hunter attempted to help out, trying to use the belt on Reigns, but this may have backfired - soon after, Reigns landed a perfect moonsault to capture the first championship of his career.
Finally, the main event saw GQ Gallo take on Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler, with the federation's crown jewel, the IZW Heavyweight Championship, on the line. The ring was immediately abandoned, Gallo taking Tyler on a path of destruction all round The Sets, which soon saw Tyler busted wide open. Blood spattered those in the vicinity as Gallo hurled him from pillar to post, until the champion looked like a demon from hell. But Tyler's tenacity is legendary throughout the wrestling business, as Train found out at the previous show - Gallo had no more luck putting the belt-holder away.
Finally, a frustrated Gallo resorted to using said belt, despite multiple warnings from the referee. He was immediately disqualified, but Tyler objected, saying that wasn't how he wanted things to end. After consultation with the audience, IZW owner Justin Roberts gave the two men five more minutes to finish the contest properly. Tyler, having bided his time, pounced, pinning Gallo and holding on to the title, albeit at the cost of some blood and plenty of sweat - if, in this case, few tears.

Thank you. In the ring, odd to see 'Outcast' David Taylor snappily dressed in a suit and tie, for his new role. Quite where he goes from here, I don't know: first referee, then wrestler, now ring announcer? We'll see. He did fine, especially given the crappy mic he had to deal with initially (must have been some kind of hazing by Beaver...). The program promised "the return of Ryan Lynch", but the words "very brief" were apparently missing, as he got totally squashed by Shawn Osborne in about three minutes. Welcome back, Ryan - we missed you. Now, go take a pounding. Osborne needs a direction for his character, which is currently floating aimlessly since the rivalry with Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler got pushed to the back-burner.
Flood faced Mike James in the 'Hair vs. Mask' match, a nice gimmick which got the crowd into the contest enthusiastically. It felt like there actually was something at stake, and it was something of a shame to see this buried in the first half. Both men were on fine form, and while it looked like James had initially lost, a head referee (er, who knew IZW had one of those?) overturned the decision, and we knew immediately this would end as expected. James tossed Flood's match to the crowd - I saw a little kid clutching it later on - and we look forward to seeing where Flood goes from here.
Tyrell Hunter vs. Little Nate. No, sorry, I got very little here. I know Hunter is part of PG Productions, but I'm not sure that having Goodman as his manager works. It does tend to distract from Hunter, when he should be establishing himself, both as a wrestler and a character. Instead, the audience are too often looking at Goodman - you can hardly blame them, since he is the most...well, let's go with "colorful", shall we, personality in IZW. However, pity anyone else in the room at the time.
Hollywood vs. Payed Daily had more impact; I presume that was Erica D'Errico in his corner? Don't think it was announced, but it'd tie in with the previous show. Er, since when has Payed been from Havana? This bout featured the worst clothesline in history, where I can only assume the breeze from it sailing over his head flattened Daily. Still, with the win, Hollywood is on a bit of a roll: he's 3-0 since returning to IZW, and I suspect a title shot can't be far off (Western States?) though looks like he'll have to get past Osborne first. Would also be interested to see a mixed-tag bout between Yates + D'Errico against Nav + Morgan, when they get back from the tour. Speaking of tag, seems a while since Sheik and Payed defended the belts: isn't there a 30-day rule or something? :-)
Excellent swerve by Goodman, arranging a contest with Durango, then explaining it was Mrs. Jack who had to fight him - good tease for the much-anticipated Durango-Goodman bout, now scheduled for next show [though given Goodman's history, I'll believe it when I see it!]. Surprised to see Adrenelyn so fearful at the prospect: I know she's been a valet, but I'm sure many in the audience remembered her share of great contests, against both men and women. Definitely looked a little rusty in there, but it was just damn good to see her back in action. And getting the win? Holy crap. I cheered until my throat was raw. This was followed by a brief run-in to the ring by Lionheart, who was then "chased" from the venue by two "security guards". Quotes used advisely: any doubts that this was all an angle have been removed. God knows where it's going now though.
Bit of a surprise to see Lucha taking the Western States title off Mr. Showtyme, though I guess it was about due for a change. A good contest, with some excellent high-spots from both men, and though Lucha was small, some good selling from Showtyme helped put him over and make this seem like a real match, which either man could have won. That Lucha did was, as noted, an eyebrow-raiser - less for that, then it effectively killlllled any suspense over the main bout, since you knew it was very unlikely both main belts would change hands on the same card.
But Gallo vs. Tyler was still one hell of a contest. It should be in the top ten for the year, and might - depending on what follows - deserve to be on the Match of the Year ballot. What I love about XXX, is he can wrestle any style of match, from a technical mat-based one to an out-and-out brawl like this. He was busted open early, as Gallo dragged him round The Sets, proving again, that the less a fed bleeds, the more effective it is when they do. So the sight of Tyler, the whites of his eyes like twin moons in a red sunset... The stuff of nightmares. Gallo using the belt did seem like a false note: the resulting DQ was just too obvious, and if it had been for something subtler, it might have made more sense. But Tyler's insistence on the bout restarting was suitably dramatic, and the inevitable victory no less satisfying for it.
This capped a solid show, without any traumas and hopefully provoking no more departures or fan schisms ["schism" = word of the day. Look it up]. There were even no police raids, though I did note that IDs were carefully checked at the door this week...

Rants and Raves
Current mood: tired
Whats up everyone. This is my first time writing on this and I don't really have an idea who is actually going to spend the time reading what i put down! Since this is a trial run; I'll talk about the match that I recently had in Utah.
I had to wrestle the nuttiest guy on the entire UCW-zero roster, a guy buy the name of Kahn Kussion. First off, when you see anyone carrying an axe and a roll of barbedwire; you first thought is that he probably doesn;t play well with others. Now throw in two folding tables, a chair, and a steel spike the size of a machete and you have the makings of disaster.
Actually, the match went very well; despite Kahn trying to rupture my kidney (he said I only need one anyways). I have to say; I nrmally don't go fror all that hardcore, going through tables getting hit with kendo stick nonsense; but this match was fun! So easy; though I must say pulling splinters from a table out of my ass is somewhat less than enjoyable.
Now sleeping 6 hours in a Utah airport, that just BLOWS! Using a book as a pillow cause my dumbass packed my jacket in my bag and checked it in(4 hours before my flight!) that REALLY BLOWS!!!!

GQ Gallo pinned The Black Dragon.
"Miracle" Mike James defeated Flood by disqualification.
IZW Tag Team Champions "Sheik Got Payed" Sheik Samir Hussein & Payed Daily defeated Morgan & Navajo Warrior.
Hollywood Yated pinned "Outcast" Dave Taylor.
"Bad Seed" Shawn Osborne pinned Johhny Love.
"Cowboy" Jack Durango w/Adrenelyn & Lucha Reigns defeated Mr. Showtyme & Tyrell Hunter w/Peter Goodman.
Destiny pinned Tommy in the first of 2 Impact Zone Idol matches.
The second Idol match between Ma'kya & Sergio ended in a no contest, after Train cleared the ring of both contestants and challenged "XXX" Lawrence Tyler.
IZW set a new attendance record for their show at The Sets on Tuesday, and the packed house was treated to an equally packed event, with eight bouts and a shocking twist at the end. Initially, however, it was business as usual - with Peter Goodman complaining. This time, about the perceived injustices suffered by Mr. Showtyme at the last event: he demanded a walkout in support of his partner, and was enraged when nobody moved. He also introduced the new member of PG Productions, Tyrell Hunter.
The first contest had GQ Gallo facing an IZW debutant, the mysterious Black Dragon. The newcomer had a style that initially proved tricky for Gallo to counter - even when he seemed to have the upper hand, and had Dragon set up in the corner, somehow his opponent slid away, and Gallo was sent tumbling to the unyielding floor, smashing his knee. But GQ gritted his teeth, fought through the pain, and came back to slay the Dragon.
Next up were former allies 'Miracle' Mike James and Flood - bad blood had been brewing since a match where Flood felt James' refusal to tag him in, cost them victory, and this soon boiled over into a brawl with few, if any, holds barred. James somersaulted off the apron onto his ex-partner, but Flood fought back and used his size advantage to even the contest. In the end, however, it wasn't enough: Flood had to resort to the use of illegal weapons, concealed in his boot. Disqualification followed, but did not save James from further punishment.
Following their victory at the last show, Morgan and Erica D'Errico were scheduled to take on the tag champions, Sheik Samir Hussein and Payed Daily. However, D'Errico was absent, a fact which filled the title-holders with glee - until Morgan announced her partner would be replaced by the Navajo Warrior. All of a sudden, the balance shifted, and as soon as the bell rang, the champions were on the back foot. Initially they tried to concentrate on Morgan, but she was hardly a weak opponent, and both her and Navajo came within a hair of taking the belts. However, with grit and - inevitably - questionable tactics, Daily and Hussein held on, Sheik pinning Navajo while Payed "helped" Morgan out of the ring.
Outcast David Taylor was next in the ring, and his comments made it clear the days of his partnership with Ryan Lynch may be numbered, Taylor wanting to fly solo. He issued an open challenge, and the response came from an unexpected source: Hollywood Yates, a man not seen in an IZW ring since December 2004. Taylor soon discovered the layoff didn't seem to have left Yates rusty, and for once, Taylor didn't find himself with a height advantage either. That may have proven decisive, and Yates marked his return to the federation with a victory over the former tag champion.
Following the interval, another old face returned: Johnny Love, who had been absent almost two years from Impact Zone Wrestling. He was up against Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne, and the contest which followed was close and hard-fought, with both competitors possessing plenty of in-ring experience. In the end, however, Love was unable to match Yates, and was pinned by Osborne.
Peter Goodman was back in the arena next - albeit not in the ring. He was in the corner of his PG Production allies, Western States Champion Mr. Showtyme and Tyrell Hunter, as they took on Lucha Reigns and Cowboy Jack Durango, with Adrenelyn in their corner. Durango was keen to continue where he left off last time, as far as assaulting Goodman went, but sensibly, Peter opted to stay well out of reach. In the ring, however, there was no such escape for his henchmen. They fought bravely, but the power of Durango and pace of Reigns wore them down relentlessly, and the AZ-Mex pairing rolled to victory.
The eagerly-anticipated Impact Zone Idol took place next. Four contenders would fight two bouts, in front of three judges: Heavyweight Champion Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler; Chris McLennan of Trash City; and Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne. They'd critique the contestants, but the votes of the audience would decide the winner, who would be rewarded with a spot on the IZW roster. The first contest pitted Destiny against Tommy, with Destiny pulling out the victory, though both contestants were warmly applauded by the crowd. The judges, too, praised the ladies - except, inevitably, for Shawn Osborne who repeated - loudly - his belief that women had no place in tttthe ring, and was berated by the other two for his views. The second contest was between Ma'kya & Sergio, and was initially a solid technical match.
However, the judges never got to voice their opinions, as the evening's third returning wrestler appeared instead. And this was the biggest, baddest of them all: former IZW Heavyweight Champion, and ex-WWE star, Train! He claimed to have got "bored" with IZW, and been travelling the world - in particular Japan - trying to find someone who could give him a contest. After beating all opposition, he heard that Tyler was now champion of Impact Zone Wrestling, and had returned to demand a title match in two weeks.
Needless to say, Tyler was happy to oblige: indeed, he wanted to get it on, right there and then. But owner Justin Roberts conviced Tyler to wait until the next show: and this was probably wise, as the champion will face the biggest challenge - in more ways than one - of his career to date.
That will take place on May 11th, at The Sets in Tempe [SE corner of Mill + Southern] Doors open at 7pm, for the all-ages show.

IZW Tag Team Champion Sheik Samir Hussein defeated"Miracle" Mike James by submission.
Lucha Reigns pinned GQ Gallo.
"Hawaiian Lion" John Williams & "Bad Seed" ShawnOsborne defeated IZW Heavyweight Champion "XXX"Lawrence Tyler & The Navajo Warrior.
Flood pinned IZW Tag Team Champion Payed Daily.
"Bump & Grind" Morgan & Erica D'Erico defeated"Outcast" Dave Taylor.
"Cowboy" Jack Durango & Lil' Nate defeated IZW WesternStates Champion Mr. Showtyme & Peter Goodman.
There was not a seat to be had at The Sets for the latest IZW show, which began with one half of the tag champions, in the shape of Sheik Samir Hussein, facing 'Miracle' Mike James. Despite giving away a lot of weight, James used his speed to run rings around Hussein, and dazzled the crowd with his agile acrobatics. But slowly, inevitably, the Sheik cut off the ring, and when he locked on the lethal Camel Clutch, James was left with no option but to tap out.
Before the next match, Peter Goodman came out, having negotiated five minutes of ring time for himself and Mr. Showtyme to promote 'PG Productions' and sell signed photographs of himself. However, no-one had promised five UNINTERRUPTED minutes: while Cowboy Jack Durango was restrained from entering the ring, heavyweight champions Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler had no such qualms, and berated Goodman as he cowered in the corner. Barely had Tyler left, when Lil' Nate followed suit, demanding a bout for himself and Jack against Goodman and Showtyme. Their challenge was duly accepted.
The second contest, much like the first, pitted size and strength, in the form of GQ Gallo, against pace and flexibility, this time the masked form of Lucha Reigns. And the pattern was similar too, with Reigns doing well if he stayed out of Gallo's clutches, but coming off worse when GQ got to grips with him. Gallo had his opponent set up for his 'football' kick, but decided not to - and paid for it, with Reigns coming back to seize a shocking victory, pinning GQ.
Gallo, indeed, staged a sit-in protest in the ring, which was only ended by the entrance of the next wrestler, the Navajo Warrior and Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler, who threw GQ unceremoniously over the top rope. This was a nice warmup for their match, where they were facing Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne and the Hawaiian Lion. In contrast to the earlier matches, there was no obvious edge in size, with the sides well-balanced and the advantage swinging back and forth, with neither team able to get the three-count. In the end, an external force proved decisive, Gallo returning to kick Navajo down, allowing Lion to pin his former partner, and gain victory for himself and Osborne.
After the interval, the other half of the newly-crowned tag champions, Payed Daily, was in action, taking on IZW's superhero, Flood. Without the Sheik to watch his back, Daily found Flood a slippery customer to nail: every time the three-count seemed inevitable, Flood would break free or reach the ropes. But Daily reached deep, and eventually found the wrestling kryptonite necessary to pin his masked adversary.
One of the men Daily replaced as tag champions entered the ring next, and Outcast David Taylor was not happy - especially as the new belt holders had not actually pinned Taylor and his partner, Ryan Lynch. Taylor demanded they be declared the #1 contenders, but IZW owner Justin Roberts said they'd have to go through one of the finalists from last week's tag tournament first. When Taylor heard he'd be facing the all-women's team of Morgan and Erica D'Errico, he told Ryan Lynch to stay in the back, vowing to beat the ladies single-handed.
At first, Taylor looked like he'd live up to his promise, delivering a brutal beating to both women, reminiscent of his methodical destruction of Morgan last year. But Morgan had not been idle since, with her stamina and wrestling skills clearly both improved, and her partnership with D'Errico was more than Taylor could comfortably handle. A flying cross body-block off the top turnbuckle by D'Errico flattened Taylor, leaving him not just beaten, but humiliated as well.
The main event was the tag match between Peter Goodman and Western States champion Mr. Showtime, who faced Lil' Nate and Cowboy Jack Durango, as arranged earlier. After the events of the past month, Durango was keen to rip Goodman limb from limb, but dodged that confrontation, at least initially. However, Nate wasn't exactly an easy option - not least when used as a projectile weapon by Durango! - and Goodman soon found himself being beaten like a tin drum on Christmas Day.
Durango finally got his chance, and after a savage attack on Goodman's knees, drove his enemy from the ring, unable to continue. He and Nate could then turn their attention to Showtyme. Despite being outnumbered two-to-one, the Western States champion put up a brave fight, lasting longer than anyone could have expected. But in the end, he finally had to go down to two men who can declare their mission well and truly accomplished: when and how Goodman will be seen again, remains in some doubt.

Sin City Showdown...The AWA In Vegas
Ricky Landell writes - ". As I type this, I am currently 30,0000000 feet in the sky on a cramped Continental Airlines Flight. These people sitting next to me must hate me right now, as I am sure that the tapping of the keys from my bulky 5 year old laptop must be incredibly annoying…good thing I have my ear phones on (Dream Theater: Pull Me Under currently playing).I arrived in Las Vegas around 2:00pm (Vegas Time) to find Steve Corino already at the airport bar, drinking, WITHOUT ME! As my back was a mess, so was Steve’s knee, from both the flight and the matches the night before in New York. I will quickly explain. In a match that pitted Steve Corino against Tommy Dreamer, soon turning into a 3 way tag match with Corino and myself against Dreamer and Balls Mahoney against The New Age Outlaws, it seems that the ring was just a bit too bouncy. Now of course, bouncy is one thing, but when you have peeks and valleys in the canvas that stretch deeper than the Grand Canyon and the dimples in Rikishi’s backside, that’s quite another story. So when all was said and done, soreness was a guarantee. Eh, oh well, these things happen with rings, so it’s no biggie, and I think the fans went home happy, and that’s really what matters most. But anyway, back to the airport. So Corino is drinking without me…now of course, I have to catch up…god I should have learned my lesson when I tried to keep up with Takao Omori (he drank me under the table). But of course, we are in Vegas baby…bright lights, big city! The promoter for what was dubbed the “Sin City Showdown,” the AWA’s Vegas promotion’s showcase for our Winter Meetings, I am sure was sweating bullets and on the verge of soiling his pants when we didn’t show up at baggage claim for 45 minutes. Upon connecting with our ride, it was apparent to both Corino and me that the scheduled wrestling show for the next day would not be happening, as the promoter was already complaining of problems and making excuses. This was a real shame, as many of the guys who came out to Vegas for the meetings were there primarily to showcase their talents to the AWA Affiliate Territories from throughout the country, including Hawaii. Needless to say, I can’t see the current AWA Vegas territory lasting very long under the current management. One good thing to come out of all of this, in my opinion, is that AWA President Dale Gagne pulled no punches and helped to create an even more united front throughout the weekend, with each of the AWA territories that were present at the meetings. After a quick meeting with those present at the time of my arrival to the hotel, it was time for a nap, and later a killer abdominal training session. Now most of you know that I don’t have the bodybuilder’s body…I know what you are thinking, and yes, I do have abdominal muscles (a$$holes!), they are just under some protective covering. I met up with GQ Gallo and Dale Gagne at the hotel bar at about 11pm. Gallo and I got our ab excercise through laughter, and Dale nearly had a heart attack. Speaking of Gallo, aside from being a very cool guy and a pleasure to hangout with, he has something Dale dubbed as “gravy bag elbow.” If you think that sounds disgusting, you would be correct. I swear to god that his elbow looks like someone inserted a bag of gravy into the spot where his elbow is supposed to be. Dale tried to do a little table side surgery with a butter knife, but I had to stop him for fear a friggin alien was going to pop out and attack everyone at the table. Other topics of discussion included serial killer and child molester John Wayne Gasey and a “wall of skin” (WTF!). That’s about all I can remember, as I went to bed about 6:00am, just as Corino was waking up.After being woken up by house keeping at least 3 times, I felt it was time to get up and put the Buffet restaurant within the hotel out of business. NO TOWEL! TOMMY WANT SLEEPY! Now one of the exciting parts for me when coming to Vegas was knowing that that the band Foreigner would be playing at the House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay Hotel/Casino. I am a big Foreigner fan, and was looking forward to hearing a little “Hot Blooded” and “Double Vision.” Yet, as we arrived at the House of Blues, Foreigner was finishing up Hot Blooded, and their part of the show for that matter. WHAT THE PISS?! In five minutes, Foreigner was off the stage, most of the people left the bar, and I was left with Corino, Gallo, a couple of hundred men and women older than my parents, and some random Foreigner fan that looked like a pint sized Stan Hanson. Needless to say, I was ready to plunge an ice pick in my ear and call it a life. Corino was so distraught, he just up and left the bar, only to be seen leaving the hotel the next morning at 8:00am just as Gallo and I were coming back from the strip. The rest of the night is somewhat of a blur. I have no idea how my liver isn’t kicking my ass right now, after the car crash I put it through. The rest of the night was a mosaic of bars and women. I think we realized it was time to call it a night, or day, or whatever you want to call it, when Galloand myself were taken to a high end strip club by a guy I swear has to be the leader of militia group from somewhere in the mountains of Nevada. Scary? That’s the understatement of the year…even scarier was the arsenal he had in his trunk. Of course, there is nothing better than going to a strip club with, count it, zero dollars. I knew this was one of those situations that my smile couldn’t get me out of. They didn’t even have the “A” team working that night, hell, more like the “C” team, and I still had trouble convincing them I couldn’t even afford a pack of M&M’s from the vending machine outside. It was about that time to duck out, just as Corino had done earlier in the night, and con a cab driver to take us back to the hotel for a few signed photos from the wrestlers staying with us in Vegas.Vegas is a crazy place, but I had a blast, and made the best of what could have been a bad situation. Meeting GQ Gallo and Kahn Kussion was a pleasure, and I look forward to seeing them along with each of the AWA Territorial promoters who took the time to come to the meetings. They were all incredibly respectful of the wrestlers and I feel they will all, except of course for the Vegas promoter, bring great things to the table for the AWA and the great sport of pro-wrestling. Until next time, as CW Anderson would say, “hug a nut and live free.”Later Cubbies, Ricky Landell_______________________________________________________________

Impact Zone Wrestling Report: 2/28 in Tempe, AZ Posted by visine on Thursday, March 02 @ 23:18:18 EST (6 reads) (comments? | Score: 0) Sent in by Trashcity IZW's Mardi Gras show feature the Tag-Team Tiki Tournament, but before that got under way, Shawn Osborne entered the ring, complaining about his defeat at the hands of heavyweight champion Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler. He demanded a rematch, and Tyler was more than happy to oblige. The tournament rules were then explained: two teams would enter the ring, then battle in a single-fall contest. The winner would then face a new opponent, and so on until all but one team had been eliminated - the last pair standing would be the tag champions. With guest referee Lucha Reigns watching over proceeding, the first match pitted GQ Gallo and the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams, against 'Miracle' Mike James and Flood, the latter making his return to the ring after a long absence. Between this and the significant size advantage held by their opponents, James and Flood had their work cut out. They tried to use their speed instead, but when the Lion caught Flood with a piledrive, this one was over - though there seemed to be some friction between the superhero and his partner after their defeat. Therefore, Williams and Gallo stayed in the ring, to meet their next opponents: and this promised to be tougher, as they had to face the reigning tag title holders, Outcast David Taylor and Ryan Lynch. The game plan seemed to be to concentrate on Lynch, the smaller champion, and this proved effective, with Lion and GQ literally tossing Lynch around like a rag-doll. Taylor proved a tougher foe, and when he entered the ring, it initially looked like his fresh legs might be the difference. But Lion pinned him in the end, guaranteeing the night would see a new champion. The third opponents for Gallo and Williams came from north of the border, in the shape of Shannon Ballard and his cousin, Moose - who did appear to be a sandwich or two short of a picnic. At least with Shannon, his opponents knew what to expect - though as a former tag champion in Arizona, *dealing* with him was a tougher matter. However, they ground away, and somehow kept Moose on his leash, until Gallo had Shannon lined up for his "football" kick. But Moose clutched onto GQ, and the distraction allowed Shannon the chance to roll up his opponent for the victory. At first, the Ballards celebrated like they had won the title, apparently unaware there was one more hurdle to climb. They had only qualified for the final bout, which would pit them against two other, top-class tag teams, with the belts going to the winners of that match. That contest was scheduled for the second half of the show, which would see all three IZW championships (Heavyweight, Tag and Western States) being defended. After the interval, the first of these was for the Western States title, with Cowboy Jack Durango challenging the current owner, Mr. Showtyme. After the disastrous wedding to Adrenelyn at the previous show, an event derailed by Peter Goodman, Jack had something to prove, and use his weight to good advantage against the champion. Showtyme did his best to withstand the assault, but was gradually worn down, until it seemed nothing could stop Jack from taking the belt. Nothing except - inevitably - Peter Goodman. His mere music was enough to fatally distract Durango, allowing Showtyme to regroup and reverse things, and retain the title. Worse was to follow for Jack, who was tied to the ropes and abused, both verbally and physically, by Goodman, who for the second event in a row left Durango battered and stunned on the canvas. The final of the tag-team tournament was next, with the Ballards discovering their opponents were the teams of Sheik Samir Hussein and Payed Daily, as well as an all-ladies' pairing of Morgan and Erica D'Erico. This last duo were clearly not rated by their opponents, but hell hath no fury like a *pair* of women scorned, and the ladies showed they were not to be under-estimated. Morgan stood toe-to-toe with her opponents, and Erico's speed and agility wowed the crowd. But any of the three teams could have won the contest, and been worthy champions, after what some are calling the best match seen in IZW this year. It finally ended, when Samir took advantage of Morgan's move on Shannon, pinning the Canadian to capture the title for Sheik and Payed.
Finally, the main event pitted IZW heavyweight champion, Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler again Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne, in a rematch of their St. Valentine's Night contest. As last time, Osborne had the upper hand for much of the contest, but Tyler's tenacity and stamina prevented the challenger from pinning him: it looked as if the pattern would be repeated, as the champion began to come back into the contest, and it was all but even. However, the Hawaiian Lion opted to bring things to an end, running in and attacking Tyler, causing the referee to disqualify Osborne. The Navajo Warrior restored order to proceedings, pointing out Lion's folly in ending Osborne's chance at the title, and announcing he and Tyler would face Osborne and Lion in a tag match at the next show. Navajo ended by asking Osborne the very relevant question, of exactly how much he could *trust* the Hawaiian Lion..._______________________________________________________________

Review 2
Impact Zone Wrestling's latest show at The Sets truly had something for everyone, with a packed house enjoying both a special appearance by a former WWE champion, and a wedding! However, first into the ring were Lucha Reigns and Peter Goodman. The latter acted as though Reigns was below him as an opponent, but the masked Mexican soon proved his credentials, and provided much of the early offense. He was about to launch a moonsault, when his opponent leapt from the floor and delivered a low blow: however, the referee spotted the infringement and immediately disqualified Goodman.
The next contest saw Payed Daily, with Sheik Samir Hussein in his corner, facing the Navajo Warrior, who had Morgan in his. This was a bout which showed that size really doesn't matter: while substantially outweighed, Daily went toe-to-toe with Navajo, in a surprising manner that impressed the crowd. He withstood some brutal assaults, and delivered some of his own, but in the end, eventually had to go under, with the Warrior finally pinning Daily.
The third match saw Lionheart take on Mike James, and the results were exactly the fast-paced, high-flying spectacle you would anticipate from these two: blink, and you'd miss some amazing move or other. The ring was too small to contain these two, and it looked like Mike James's suicidal tendencies might bring him victory; but Lionheart withstood the storm, and came back with an excellent reversal of an attempted suplex, to get the three-count on James.
Before the fourth match, announcer Justin Roberts introducted the night's special guest, Nora Greenwald who, as Molly Holly, twice won the WWE women's title. She was the referee for the next contest, which was to decide the IZW heavyweight title, Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne facing the champion, Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler. The challenger tried to get into the referee's good graces, which may or may not have fooled her, but clearly did NOT fool the audience.
This was a tough battle, with neither man prepared to give an inch. Osborne took the initiative early on, and came within a fraction of capturing the belt more than once. But he just couldn't pin Tyler for three seconds, and eventually, Osborne turned his frustration on the referee, showing his true colors. This came back to bite him at the end: a sunset flip left Osborne clutching desperately at the ropes for support, and when the challenger refused to obey the referee's order to let go, she kicked his hands off the ropes, allowing Tyler to pin his opponent.
After a slightly-extended interval, because of the huge number of fans keen to meet, get autographs from, and have pictures taken with Ms. Greenwald, Sheik Samir Hussein and Payed Daily took the ring. Sheik complained bitterly about how his partnership with Payed got no respect, and were the best uncrowned tag team in the federation. Because of this, Justin Roberts decided to make what was originally scheduled a tag match into a three-way dance, with one representative from each team.
This therefore pitted Sheik Samir against GQ Galloagainst Outcast David Taylor, but it wasn't long before interference from the parties outside the ring led to this being declared a no-contest. Justin Roberts announced that, in order to settle all the various scores, feuds, and grudges, there would be an open tag-team tournament. Details of this event would be announced, once the IZW board of directors had worked out the specifics.
The Western States title was on the line next, with Mr. Showtyme defending the belt against Lil' Nate. In a shocking turn of events, this was over in around ten seconds, with Nate swiftly rolling up the title-holder to take the belt. Showtyme demanded an immediate rematch: Nate was happy to oblige, but the result was exactly the same, with Showtyme rapidly pinned. The angry ex-champion demanded another restart: this time he got the result he wanted, recapturing the belt, and his assault on Nate after the bell left no chance of the bout continuing, but also no doubt about the humiliation felt by Showtyme.
Finally, it was time for the long-anticipated White Trash Wedding of the Year, between IZW's self-proclaimed White Trash Champion, Cowboy Jack Durango, and his valet (and former women's champion), Adrenelyn. An appropriate wedding buffet (pork rinds, corn nuts, animal crackers, etc.) had been supplied for the guest in attendance, and after a touching sermon, performed by Minister Jim from Trash City, Jack was about to kiss his new wife...
However, Peter Goodman stormed the ring, rudely interrupting proceedings and declaring that Jack was not a fit husband for Adrenelyn. After pushing Durango, the Cowboy attempted to clothesline the interloper, but Goodman ducked - and Durango nailed Adrenelyn instead! Goodman saw his chance, following up with multiple DDTs on the shocked groom, flattening him. But worse was to come, as Goodman raced from the ring, bringing back the cake. Slowly, deliberately, he placed it on the mat, picked up the still unconscious Adrenelyn, and slammed the bride, face-first, into her own wedding cake before leaving - appropriately, to the J. Geils Band song, "Love Stinks"...

"Bad Seed" Shawn Osborne pinned The Navajo Warrior w/Morgan.
Lil' Nate defeated "Miracle" Mike James, Lionheart & Peter Goodman in a four corners elimination match.
"Hawaiian Lion" John Williams & GQ Gallo defeated "Cowboy" Jack Durango w/Aderenelyn & IZW Heavyweight Champion "XXX" Lawrence Tyler.
Impact Zone Wrestling returned to The Sets with an evening of unexpected surprises before an audience of eager fans. The first combatants into the ring were 'Outcast' David Taylor and Payed Daily, for a battle of tag champions - Taylor a current holder, while Daily held the belt last year. The latter also had Sheik Samir Hussein in his corner, and the crafty Arab may have helped tip the balance here. Despite giving away several inches in height and reach, as well as being on the receiving end of some powerful offense from Taylor, it was Daily who came out on top in the opening bout.
Before the second contest, heavyweight star Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne took the ring, still upset about his defeat at the previous show, which he blamed squarely on Morgan. In no uncertain terms, he told the crowd where he felt women belonged - and it wasn't in the wrestling ring.... He also challenged the Navajo Warrior to a one-on-one contest, later that evening.
Next up was a special Lucha Libre style match, between IZW favorite Lucha Reigns, and El Chucky, a visitor from across the border in Chihuahua. Both men put on a showcase of the Mexican style, with Chucky's use of the ropes as a springboard drawing well-deserved admiration from the crowd, and Reigns living up to his high-flying reputation. However, the guest suffered a "wardrobe malfunction" which dropped his trousers, and his opponent rapidly took advantage of the distraction, Reigns winning by pinfall.
The final match before the interval was for the Western States title, with Mr. Showtyme defending his crown against Sheik Samir - Payed Daily, repaying earlier favors, was in the Sheik's corner. Hussein was a previous owner of this belt, and it looked like he might be regaining it on this occasion, with his usual mix of sly tactics and grappling ability. However, just when he was about to capitalize with one of his signature moves, dropping all his weight on Showtyme's back, the champion flipped over so that Hussein landed square across Showtyme's knee instead. An incapacitated Sheik was soon given the three-count, and the belt remained around the waist of Mr. Showtyme.
After the interval, the previously-arranged contest between Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne and the Navajo Warrior took place, with Morgan again in Navajo's corner. This was a ferocious contest, with some devastating chops from Navajo that would have floored a lesser man: but Osborne not only withstood them, he returned them in kind. The tide gradually turned towards the Bad Seed, and with Navajo helpless on the canvas, Osborne climbed aboard the top turnbuckle - Morgan desperately tried to shake him lllloose, but this time, he held firm, and dropped a monster elbow across the Warrior, following up for the pin.
However, IZW President Billy Anderson had a surprise for Osborne, though first, he congratulated Osborne on becoming #1 contender for the heavyweight title. But Anderson criticized the winner for his issues with women and announced that, while he'd get to face Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler for the belt at the next show, there would be a special guest referee: Nora Greenwald, who won the WWE Women's belt, while wrestling as Molly Holly. Osborne's shock was clear, but he vowed to be ready for whatever happened.
The next contest was also to decide a #1 contender spot, this time a four-way elimination match, with the winner getting a shot at the Western States title: Mike James faced Lionheart, Lil' Nate and...well, initially, the music sounded like Antonio Mestre had returned, but this was simply a malicious act by Peter Goodman, who was really the fourth man in the contest. Nate immediately wanted a piece of Goodman, but was held back by the other two.
The action soon started regardless, and was as fast and furious as you'd expect. Nate and Lionheart did take time out, staging a dance-off in the middle of the ring (though announcer Beaver Las Vagas's moves before the bell were equally appreciated). This, in turn enraged Goodman, but it was James who was first eliminated; Lionheart followed him, and Nate finally got his chance to face Goodman. These two have faced each other many times: on this occasion, Nate had the edge, and will face Mr. Showtyme at a date to be decided.
Finally, the main event pitted GQ Galloand the Hawaiian Lion, John Williams, against Cowboy Jack Durango and the IZW Heavyweight Champion, Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler. Though the latter team are both long-time fan favorites, Gallo and Lion had a lot of very vocal supporters present too, making for an electric atmosphere. Much of the early offense came from Gallo, who roared into his opponents at full speed, and it was all they could do to withstand the assault: but they did, and XXX and Durango came back to give as good as they got. But with their section roaring them on, Gallo and Lion were not to be denied: when Tyler overshot coming off the top rope, Lion pounced to pin the Heavyweight champion.
Review by Mark With No Name
It was an odd kind of show last night. The first half was, for whatever reason, almost dead as far as crowd reaction goes: when someone getting their pants pulled down gets the biggest cheer, there's something a bit off. However, the second half salvaged things with a strong set of matches, and the most relentlessly loud audience (albeit one section only) I've seen at IZW. But more on that later.
We started with Outcast David Taylor vs. Payed Daily: with hindsight, given the stone-cold audience, someone with more experience of working the fans would have been useful here. Sheik could have helped, but was almost invisible in Payed's corner. so this had all the crowd heat of a training session. Some decent slams from Taylor, but Daily had some problems dealing with his opponent's height, and a couple of spots came close to being blown, although weren't quite.
What little excitement that generate was soon snuffed out, thanks to a Shawn Osborne promo, that sucked the energy from the room like... like... like a giant sucky thing. It started well, but he needs to learn that, as Shakespeare said, brevity is the source of wit. There are some wrestlers - LT comes to mind - who can riff off the audience, but if you're not one of those, go up there, say what you have to say, and get out.
Next up: Lucha Reigns vs El Chuky in a Lucha Libre match. "Lucha Libre" must be Mexican for "astonishingly short", as this only lasted about three minutes. Which is a shame, as it was very entertaining, and something I'd like to see more of - as opposed to Chuky's butt, which has now reached its 2006 quota. I think he spent longer in the ring after the bell, than the match actually lasted, though the amazingly-rapid three count at the end didn't help.
Sheik took on Mr. Showtyme for the Western States title, with the highlight Sheik getting a (somewhat wobbly) BADASS tattoo in marker to match Payed's one. The crowd did begin to warm up a little bit for this one: Sheik + title shot = heat, though I never felt all that convinced he had a legitimate shot. But Showtyme still feels like an enigma: is he heel or face? What is his character? Who is he? He's certainly the least well-known title holder in IZW.
After the break, things suddenly switched gear, as if someone had set a rocket under the crowd. Peter Goodman coming out to Mestre's music was a stroke of genius, setting the fans up, then yanking the carpet out from beneath them. Excellent contest too, all four men (also Lionheart, James and Nate) on good form, though a little surprised to see Goodman and Nate ending up as the final pairing - I'd have though that angle might have been given a rest for a week or two. But the Lionheart-Nate danceoff was classic, surpassed only by Beaver's moves before the bout. All of a sudden, the show seemed fun.
Osborne vs. Navajo, and whatever one can say about Osborne's mic skills, I have few such qualms when he's not talking. On the menu tonight were chops...lots of chops. Nav is pretty much the master there, but Osborne got in a few good licks too, and as the power contest you'd expect, this was solid stuff. It was, understandably, somewhat overshadowed by the announcement that The Wrestler Formerly Known As Molly Holly would be special guest ref when Osborne faces Tyler at the next show. Given Osborne's earlier misogyny, it's pretty clear how that'll go down. And that's fine by me.
Finally, Gallo + Lion vs. LT and Durango, and perhaps the biggest swerve in IZW history came from the audience. The side by the door was packed with the Gallo Nation, who cheered his every move (and Lion too, though probably mostly by association), and turned LT and particularly Jack, into instant heels. Sure, they had support on their side of the ring, but it was far more restrained and, much less vocal: Jack and LT seemed genuinely disconcerted by this turn of events.
Which I can kinda understand. These were not "true" fans, in the sense that they had not been won over by Gallo's character and/or wrestling skills, even if both are well-known. But if every wrestler brought 15-20 people to the show like Gallo did - and importantly, they paid to get in, AFAIK - then the atmosphere would be amazing. Must admit, it was also a wake-up call to those of us who perhaps take IZW a little for granted, to see such extreme, even rabid, enthusiasm.
As for the match, I'm wondering if the originally-planned result was reversed in response to the crowd reaction. Gallo certainly enjoyed his day in the sun, though Tyler also took to his suddenly-changed role with admirable speed. Jack looked less comfortable as a "heel", this perhaps being the first time he'd been on the receiving end of crowd disapproval, and it seemed to rattle him a bit. But it was still everything you'd want

IZW Heavyweight Champion "XXX" Lawrence Tyler, The Navajo Warrior w/Morgan & "Cowboy" Jack Durango w/Adrenelyn defeated "Hawaiian Lion" John Williams, "Bad Seed" Shawn Osborn & GQ Gallo.
Antonio Mestre leaves IZW after losing a Triple Threat match to Peter Goodman & Little Nate.
Another packed house was in attendance at The Sets on Tuesday for the latest IZW show, which began with a match between Ryan Lynch (with Outcast David Taylor in his corner) and Sheik Samir Hussein. Samir is not exactly known for taking the high moral ground, but even he had his hands full, with Lynch and Taylor taking every opportunity to bend the rules, with low blows and cheap shots a-plenty. In the end, it was one of the latter from Taylor that gave Lynch a perfect opening, and he didn't need to be asked twice to snatch the opportunity and pin.
The second contest was a striking contrast in the wrestlers, the giant Ron Kilbourn facing the swift Mike James. Despite being less than half his opponent's weight, James showed no fear, opting for a "stick and move" gameplan - however that worked only as long as Kilbourn didn't get hold of him. When that happened, the larger man's strength came into play, leading to much pain for James. The main question was, could Kilbourn catch his opponent? When he did - literally, James flying off the top-rope straight into Kilbourn's clutches - this one rapidly ended in victory for the big man.
The two wrestlers in the next bout were much more evenly-matched in size: Lionheart and Lucha Reigns have similar styles too, with speed clearly to the fore here. These two formed a human highlight reel, each trying to outdo the other in agility and high-flying action. This contest could easily have gone either way, but it was Lionheart who came out on top this time, pinning Reigns after sliding out of the way when Reigns attempted a moonsault from the top turnbuckle.
Opening the second half was a battle of former tag-team champions, with a different crown at stake, as Western States title-holder, Mr. Showtyme, faced his old partner, Payed Daily. Despite their former alliance, there wasn't much friendship on view here, with Daily intent on taking the belt away from Showtyme. Showtyme, however, had a different opinion, and was equally keen to hold onto the title - it was a tough struggle against an opponent who knew all his moves, but the champion came out on top of his former team-mate.
The penultimate bout was a six-man tag contest featuring IZW Heavyweight Champion Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler, paired with the Navajo Warrior and Cowboy Jack Durango, against the Hawaiian Lion John Williams, Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne and GQ Gallo. Not a lot of love in the ring here either, with all the competitors intent on taking it out in each other. This contest too went back and forth: when one team looked to have the edge, the other would fight back. Eventually, the key proved the outside presence of Adrenelyn + Morgan in Team Tyler's corner: Morgan knocked Osborne astride the top turnbuckle, from where XXX superplexed him to the canvas, following up for the pin.
In the ring after the victory, Durango proposed to Adrenelyn, to the delight of the crowd, and their wedding has been set for Feb 14th 2006. IZW owner Justin Roberts also called Billy Anderson and CC Starr to the ring, and they'll be taking care of things at the next show, while Roberts is in the Far East with the WWE.
Finally, it was time for a triple-threat match, between Antonio Mestre, Lil' Nate and Peter Goodman, with the stipulation that the loser must depart IZW forever. With so much at stake, this was a phenomenal match, even by the high standards this trio have previously set. At first, it looked like Goodman had been made to tap out, but both Mestre and Nate had submission holds on him at the same time - with no winner, there could be no loser, and the bout continued.
Goodman took full advantage, and escaped elimination by pouncing on Mestre to pin him after Nate caught the Brazilian with his signature Afrodisiac - it then came down to Mestre vs. Lil' Nate in a sudden-death match, with their survival in the federation on the line. Both men supplied monumental effort, until a superkick from Nate put Mestre down long enough for Nate to score the victory. But the reaction of the crowd - and Nate - showed Mestre that he would be sorely missed by all the fans, and we wish him all the very best in his future career.

Detailed report
The first show of 2006 for Impact Zone Wrestling saw a packed house at The Sets in Tempe. Things got under way with Chris and Jim from Trash City presenting the IZW 2005 Awards, as voted for by the fans at the previous show. However, they had barely started when John 'Hawaiian Lion' Williams, Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne and GQ Gallo stormed the ring.
Williams was still incensed over his loss of the heavyweight belt to Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler, and Gallo issued an open challenge to any wrestler brave enough to take him on. Cowboy Jack Durango didn't need to be asked twice, and the first contest of the night was soon under way, with Osborne in Gallo's corner. Durango really took it to his opponent, and it wasn't long before Osborne abandoned his post to rescue Gallo, forcing the referee to stop the contest. Durango won by DQ, but took a pounding until the Navajo Warrior came to his aid. The livid pair demanded, and got a tag-match against Gallo and Osborne, later that night.
The tag belts were on the line next, with new champions Outcast David Taylor and Ryan Lynch, defending their titles for the first time, against 'Sheik Got Payed', the partnership of Sheik Samir Hussein and Payed Daily. The challengers may not have been the most loved wrestlers in IZW, but for once, the crowd seemed firmly on their side, and their punishment of Taylor was greatly enjoyed by the audience. At one point, an unfortunate series of low blows saw all four men - plus the referee - down, but Lynch recovered first, clattering Daily with the belt while the official still recovered, before following up for the pin.
Another crown was up for grabs before the interval, with Western States titleholder Mr Showtyme facing not one, but three challengers, in a fatal four-way: he was up against Flood, Lionheart and Lucha Reigns. With most of IZW's finest high-flyers all in the ring, there was never a dull moment to be had here, with attacks coming from all angles on all competitors. Given so many competitors, getting a pin would never be easy, but Showtyme kept his head, seizing a moment when Lucha and Flood were busy in one corner, to pin Lionheart. However, Lionheart blamed his loss on Flood, and took some time to be prised off the IZW superhero after the bell; it may be some time before the caped crusader is able to return.
After the break, Chris + Jim tried again to present the awards, and this time managed to do so without interruption, though some of the contenders seemed more pleased than others. See elsewhere for a list of the winners, but Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler's victory as Wrestler of the Year was an undeniably popular, and well-deserved choice.
After the break, the hastily-scheduled tag match took place: Cowboy Jack and the Navajo Warrior (together with Adrenelyn and Morgan respectively), taking on GQ Gallo and Shawn 'Bad Seed' Osborne. Jack seemed to have a special grudge against Osborne after their earlier encounter, and the Bad Seed came in for some early pain. The arrival of Gallo helped turn the tables, and it was the Cowboy's turn to get roped in and taken down. He finally tagged Navajo, but his offense was coolly countered by Gallo to score the pin and victory.
The next contest was a three way dance: Antonio Mestre vs. Peter Goodman vs. Lil' Nate. As this trio had won both Best Feud and Best Match in the IZW Awards, this was an eagerly-anticipated bout, and it certainly lived up to expectations. Goodman initially thought he'd won quickly, but he'd actually pinned the ref, and the match continued at a blistering pace. With a modified Sunset Flip, Nate got victory on the night, but this one is not over yet: the three will face each other again next show. And on that occasion, the loser must leave Impact Zone Wrestling...
Finally, it was time for Lawrence 'XXX' Tyler to defend the IZW Heavyweight title, and he faced the man he took it from last show, John 'Hawaiian Lion' Williams. Lion was clearly fired-up and started the bout in a manner that lived up to his nickname: it seemed that Tyler's reign was destined to be a short one. But the champion was doing the old 'Rope-a-dope', waiting for Williams to tire, and when he did, Tyler made his move. A desperate Williams tried to use the belt as a weapon, but it backfired, and he ended up receiving it himself. That proved the last hurrah, and Tyler soon polished off the Lion, beginning 2006 as he ended 2005 - with the championship around his waist. .
